Full job description
Trailhead Biosystems is the pioneer of High-Dimensional Design-of-Experiments (HD-DoE) applying this towards systems developmental biology. Trailhead Biosystems, Inc. seeks a stem cell scientist to work on development of industry-grade directed differentiation protocols for cells within the mesoderm layer. The scientist will be working in a fast-paced laboratory to develop cell culture protocols of mesoderm and hematopoietic cells with desirable characteristics determined by the business partners under guidance of team leader. We are looking for an adaptable team player, armed with a growth mind set, organized and strongly focused on purpose. The position involves stem cell culturing, experimental designs, and validation methodologies (NexGen Sequencing, flow cytometry analysis, high-content imaging, etc.).
Job Responsibilities:
- Conduct research by completing internet searches; planning and carrying out tests and experiments; analyzing findings; filling out experiment records and logs; writing summaries and explanations; operating equipment; and developing conclusions
- Collaborate with other scientists and team members by sharing and exchanging observations, opinions, and findings
- Present and discuss test findings at scientific review meetings
- Report scientific results to team leader
- Maintain professional integrity by following procedures, policies, and protocols
- Maintain safe lab environment by following legal regulations and organization standards
- Prepare reports by analyzing, collecting, and summarizing data and trends
- Create and Improve SOPs
Job Requirements/Qualifications:
- PhD in cell biology/biochemistry, developmental biology or related field
- Works well both independently, as well as on a team.
- Comprehensive expertise in mammalian tissue culture techniques and practices. Experience with suspension mammalian culture is a plus
- Possess good time management and organization skills, attention to detail and works efficiently to execute quality experiments and meet all company deadlines.
- Flexible and adaptable mindset and capable of reprioritizing efficiently
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic research environment when encountering scientific and technological challenges
- Comfortable to work with numbers in biology
- Experience with stem cell cultures, RNAseq and flow cytometry is a plus.
- Must be willing to work flexible hours as necessary.
- Must be able to Travel per project requirements
- Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to present results and conclusions in written, tabular and graphic form for publication.
- Minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
