Job Summary
Our growing biotech startup is looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Research Specialist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in a scientific field, with hands-on experience in various laboratory techniques. This role involves conducting experiments, analyzing data, and contributing to innovative research projects aimed to advance client and R&D projects.
Starting salary will vary depending on experience and skillset. Additional benefits and bonuses will be considered after a 90-performance evaluation.
***This is a local opportunity restricted to Lubbock, TX. Relocation is required if living beyond commuting distance.
Responsibilities
- Run the proprietary screening platform.
- Microbial and nematode strain bank maintenance.
- Prepare buffers and various chemical solutions.
- Pour agar-based plates for microbial and nematode strains.
- Assist with testing and calibrating lab equipment in preparation for specific tasks.
- Prepare samples prior to shipping to partners.
- Assist in lab SOP/protocol improvement to help the efficiency of the lab.
- Prepare microfluidic chips following an established protocol.
- Follow all company policies and procedures to ensure service integrity and quality control.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and orderly laboratory space.
- Recognize and report any lab safety issues.
Minimum Education
- Bachelor's of Science
- 2-years of working lab experience (Academic or Industry)
Desired Education
- Master's of Science
- 0+ years of working lab experience (Academic or Industry)
Skills
- Excellent time management, and organizational skills.
- Experience in a laboratory setting. Experience as a research laboratory technician/laboratory scientist is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and safety protocols.
- Ability and willingness to develop new skills.
- Highly motivated and target-driven.
- Good communication skills.
***While the job requires basic laboratory and computer skills, experience with brightfield and fluorescent microscopy, C. elegans, cell culture, microfluidics, lab automation systems, analytical chemistry, molecular techniques, or biostatistics are a plus.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
