Position Summary

We are seeking a Resident Engineer with 6+ years’ experience to work in the Program Management (PgM) and Construction/Project Management (CM/PM) for fee/CM Agency sectors. The Construction Manager / Resident Engineer will work with the Project Construction Inspection Team in both an office and field environment to coordinate the development and construction of safe and quality projects. The position will have involvement from the procurement phase of a project, working closely with the procurement team to provide input, through project closeout, working closely with the Client and field personnel. The Construction Manager / Resident Engineer should not only be a great manager, he or she should also be an effective communicator and team player. The position will require superior cross-functional skills including close coordination with Enovate’s procurement, operations, and business development teams in addition to interfacing with customers and other project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Pro-actively manages project scope, schedule and budget. Engaged during pre-con, construction and post-construction phases. Serves as the primary client liaison to bring the schedule, budgets and scope of work to completion and to the client’s satisfaction.
  • Oversight of field inspectors, office engineers, QA/QC staff for successful project execution. Coordinates work efforts and reviews work performed. Provides guidance to the project team
  • Oversees project staffing.
  • Produce and manage project submittals, shop drawings, and material certifications.
  • Comply with safety procedures/policies
  • Establish excellent working and professional relationships with the Clients, their Representatives and Contractors.
  • Maintain ongoing internal communication with the Enovate Project Management team
  • Proactively monitor construction to determine whether it’s completed timely and monitor contract progress by evaluating the adequacy of the Contractor’s personnel, equipment and availability of materials and supplies.
  • Actively participate in the development of the project schedules using basic logic to incorporate resources, submittals, approvals, lead times, restraints, and milestones.
  • Participate in relevant daily huddles to ensure the projects are expeditiously and profitably constructed.
  • Manage Subcontractors including providing technical direction, assistance and corrective action. Understand the Subcontractors contract and scope of work and hold the Subcontractor accountable to their agreement.
  • Monitor compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards and specifications.
  • Review, edit, and interpret plans, specifications, RFQ/P’s and other construction contract documents for constructability, bid ability, site access, and recommend changes to maximize the ultimate success of the project.
  • Meet with professional consultants, project managers, and site staff to develop phasing plan, work restrictions, and construction schedule.
  • Ability to travel to projects in New York City and New Jersey.
  • Develops project scopes and fee quotations and assists in the preparation of proposals and contracts.
  • Provide technical assistance to the Proposal Team throughout the proposal process.
  • Participate in Business Development activities to promote the company's brand and services.
  • Ability to identify potential conflicts and issues.

Desired Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management
  • 6+ years of experience in Construction/Project Management and/or Resident Engineering in the public sector market
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in the State of New York
  • Understanding of New York/New Jersey local and state agencies and contracting requirements
  • NICET IV Certification preferred
  • Uncompromising Integrity
  • Excellent teamwork, communication and people skills a must.
  • Entrepreneurial with a well-rounded business perspective.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and AutoCAD software.
  • Have a solid time management system and demonstrate excellent organizational skills.
  • Working knowledge of estimating, engineering, cost tracking systems and site surveying

The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations.
