Residential Trash Route Driver and Collector

Route Driver – Full Time

***Our insurance REQUIRES employees who operate our trash trucks to be at least 25 years old and have a clean MVR.***

Job Description:

Residential trash route Monday - Friday.
Route hours will vary daily. A typical day begins at 5:00 am.

Our route drivers are expected to drive the trash truck and are responsible for collecting and loading residential trash. The truck is a medium duty size truck. CDLs are not required to operate the truck but are welcome. Drivers work from the early morning until the afternoon. Our routes begin in Portland prior to 5:00 am.

This is a very physical job – Drivers get in and out of the truck at every stop and empty the trash containers at each residence. Collecting the trash also requires repeatedly lifting and pulling trash containers and/or bags. Drivers work in ALL types of weather conditions. They must take care of the trash truck as if it were their own vehicle. Drivers must maintain and update route sheets and speak to customers on the route daily.

Clean Away Disposal holds our employees to a high standard. We understand emergencies happen however, call outs and no shows WILL be grounds for termination. Untrustworthy behavior WILL also be grounds for termination.

Pay depends on experience.

We do offer holiday pay - however, we do work all holidays that fall during the week, except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Requirements:

Must be at least 25 years old for insurance purposes.

Must present valid drivers license.

Physically able to lift at least 50 lbs, climb in and out of the truck repeatedly, lift or pull trash cans to and from the truck for emptying.

Must be dependable, hardworking, and self motivated.

Must have reliable transportation to and from work.

Clean MVR. CDLs are NOT necessary but are welcome.

Must be very diligent, trustworthy, and take pride in their job.

Great communication skills with the customers and other staff.

Must work all holidays that fall during the week, except Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.
Must be willing to arrive early and work later than normal, if circumstances arise.

Must be able to demonstrate the ability to safely drive the truck and operate the equipment.

Must be able to recognize unacceptable items.

Must be able to handle and keep up with payments received from customers.

Must pass a drug test.

Must be in good physical health, as this job is very physical.
