TITLE: Resource Development Specialist
CLASSIFICATION: Full-time, hourly, non-exempt
REPORTS TO: Executive Director
SALARY RANGE: $45,000 - $55,000

ABOUT US
Michigan Community Action is the statewide professional association for the 27 human services agencies designated as Community Action Agencies. Our member agencies serve individuals and families in all 83 counties of Michigan who are experiencing poverty and are striving for economic self-sufficiency. Our mission is to help people and change lives and our movement was founded during the Civil Rights era and the Johnson administration’s War on Poverty.

POSITION SUMMARY
The Resource Development Specialist collaborates with agency leaders and association staff to identify funding sources to support agencies’ mission and vision, cultivate trusting relationships with agency leaders and stakeholders, gather and assimilate MCA’s history into fund-seeking and resource development endeavors, shape public reporting via newsletters and annual reports to garner attention of potential funders, with an emphasis on our 2025 50th year anniversary

This is a hybrid virtual/in-person work environment. The MCA office and primary business location is 2173 Commons Parkway, Okemos MI 48864.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research and recommend grant opportunities that align with agencies’ mission and vision
  • Assist agencies in grant application and reporting processes as is feasible
  • Seek out additional resources for association and its members and serve as a connector between agencies and opportunities
  • Regularly visit agencies to meet with leaders, building trust in the association’s commitment to them and their mission and vision
  • Provide group coaching sessions for agency leaders to facilitate learning and camaraderie
  • Compile MCA history document to share with agencies published materials
  • Incorporate MCA’s story into publications, agendas, discussions
  • Highlight MCA’s story, mission, and vision in 2025 anniversary announcements
  • Regularly attend MCA Board and Committee meetings and other agency events

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful experience with grant seeking and writing
  • Passions align with Michigan Community Action mission and vision
  • Demonstrates a positive attitude & commitment to Community Action Code of Ethics.
  • Enjoys meeting people, making connections, identifying new stakeholders
  • Demonstrates dedication with proficient use of time and resources
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and grant writing software
  • Interpersonal and professional skills including but not limited to professional appearance, tact, punctuality, communication, and dependability
  • Ability to carry out oral and written instructions and work with minimum supervision
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret grant requirements, reports, policies, procedures, financial reports, and legal documents

ADDITIONAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Established connections with Michigan Community Action partners
  • Familiarity with non-profit work, history of volunteering, and/or working for a non-profit organization
  • Comfortable with remote work environment and able to remain productive when not in the physical presence/proximity of co-workers
  • Comfortable working in virtual environment with virtual / online tools such as Zoom, Teams, etc.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Able and willing to work additional hours during MCA’s Summer Conference
  • Able and willing to travel occasionally for in-person meetings
  • Collaborate with others and encourage co-workers
  • Attend internal and external meetings
  • Drug and alcohol testing to be conducted if required by funding source(s)
  • State and/or federal criminal background checks to be conducted if required by funding source(s)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
