Habitat for Humanity, Abilene brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. Our primary purpose is to partner with our future homeowners and other people and organizations from around our area to build high quality affordable housing. We also serve our community through our ReStore, an affordable retail store focusing on used furniture, household goods, and construction supplies.
Job title & Position Number: Restore Sales Associate
Job summary/Duties: Habitat ReStores help fund Habitat for Humanity’s work to end substandard housing by building strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. Profits from Habitat ReStores are used both in the local community and around the world. Habitat ReStore Associates perform as a part of team dedicated to Habitat for Humanity’s mission: seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities, and hope. The intended purpose of the ReStore is to sell a wide selection of new, blemished, and useable quality household and building materials in the Abilene area at low prices (50-75% below retail) through the operation of a retail store/warehouse owned and operated by the Affiliate. Proceeds benefit the construction of houses in the area served by Abilene HFH.

Reporting to: ReStore Manager
Skills requirements: (i.e. Language, Mathematical, Reasoning, Other)
- Operate cash register, telephones, copiers, and other office equipment
- Understand ReStore policies and procedures
- Maintain effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, Habitat homeowners, customers, and members of the community
- Research and price donations for resale
- Assist with donation pickups as needed
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Interactions: The persons in this position will interact with the general public and all levels of management. It will be necessary for this position to communicate effectively via various modes of communication (face-to-face, phone, email, fax, etc.)
Working Conditions: Individual will be working in a warehouse. Subject to heat, cold and dust.
- Ability to lift up to 100 lbs. with assistance
- Stand, squat, bend, walk for long periods
Planning & Leadership Impact: The position provides support and leadership (non-management) to ReStore volunteers.
Experience required:
- One year retail experience
- One year warehouse experience
- One year experience manual labor
Education/ Job requirements: High school diploma required. Experience in retail, marketing, sales, construction or any combination of education and experience necessary to complete these functions is desired. Must have a clean driving record and be able to operate a vehicle.

Operate cash register
Update computerized inventory system
Assist store customers
Pick-ups and drop-offs as necessary or needed
Maintain store: Clean shelves and retail displays and restock merchandise as needed
Process donated inventory
Provide support to ReStore manager, as needed.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.00 - $15.00 per hour
Expected hours: 29 per week
