Our small, close-knit team at The Coffee Pot Bakery Cafe is looking for a hard-working, self-motivated Retail Sales Associate to join our crew! The person in this position is responsible for carrying out essential functions related to the daily pottery retail store and gift shop, running the till & Point of Sale System, taking inventories, restocking and maintaining attractive retail displays, helping customers in person, over the phone, and via email.

HOURS: This position would be part-time; approximately 2-3 shifts per week (generally 4 -6 hr shifts) , with a variance of +/- one shift as needed. Ideally able to work 1-2 Saturdays per month.

PAY: $15-$17/hour DOE

Tasks & Requirements: Including but not limited to:

  • Welcoming guests as they come into the store, being attentive to help or direct them as needed.
  • Checking in with guests who are shopping for pottery to see how you can help them.
  • Actively listening to customers and working with them on their purchases accordingly - helping pair different patterns or pieces to their desires, recommending options suited to their needs, etc.
  • Accurately running transactions through the till (including accuracy with counting cash).
  • Wrapping and packaging customers purchases.
  • Performing daily restocking and pricing of pottery and resale items
  • Counting in, pricing, and arranging new shipments of resale items.
  • Maintaining attractive retail displays - tidying, organizing, arranging, and dusting regularly.
  • Performing weekly inventories of pottery and resale items for ordering purposes.
  • Must be able to comfortably hold conversations with customers in person, over the phone, and via email.
  • Answering phone calls and helping customers via phone.
  • Answering emails, and helping customers (when able) via email.
  • Checking voicemail daily and responding to customers.
  • Helping support cafe as necessary if they are busy (wiping tables, grabbing to-go boxes, quickly sweeping under messy tables, etc.)
  • Checking and cleaning the customer bathroom throughout the day to ensure that it is clean and well-stocked.
  • Communicating with customers to resolve complaints or ensure satisfaction.
  • Accurate and speedy navigation of the Point of Sale System.
  • Proficiency with the iPad interface, card reader equipment, computer, and telephone system.
  • Offering kindness, a welcoming attitude, and ongoing patience and helpfulness to each customer, and to all fellow team-members.
  • Ability to manage time well, including punctuality, efficiently executing tasks, and being careful to look for additional tasks to help with when known duties are finished.
  • Ability to follow systems consistently.
  • Ongoing teachability and flexibility.
  • Must be able to carry 30-40lbs (for restocking pottery)

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
