Full job description
As a Part-Time Customer Service Associate at Postal Annex, a family-owned packing/ shipping and printing store, you will play a crucial role in providing exceptional customer service to clients seeking packaging, shipping, and related services. Your friendly demeanor, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills will contribute to the overall success of the store and ensure a positive experience for our customers. Must be able to lift 30+ lbs. and feel comfortable using computers, printers and copy/ fax machine (with training provided).
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Assistance:
- Greet customers warmly and create a welcoming atmosphere.
- Listen attentively to customer inquiries and concerns, offering prompt and accurate solutions.
- Assist customers in selecting appropriate packaging materials, shipping options, and related services based on their needs.
- Provide information about shipping rates, delivery times, and tracking procedures.
Packaging Services:
- Skillfully pack and prepare items for shipping, ensuring they are secure, protected, and meet shipping regulations.
- Offer advice on proper packaging techniques to customers, aiming to minimize the risk of damage during transit.
Shipping Expertise:
- Knowledgeably explain the various shipping methods available (e.g., express, ground, international) and their associated features.
- Assist customers in completing shipping forms, labels, and customs documentation accurately.
Operational Tasks:
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked store environment.
- Handle cash transactions, process payments, and maintain accurate records of sales and transactions.
- Assist with inventory management, restocking shelves, and maintaining adequate supplies of packaging materials.
Customer Communication:
- Provide timely and accurate updates to customers about their shipments, including tracking information and delivery estimates.
- Follow up with customers on delayed or problematic shipments, keeping them informed about the resolution process.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must be willing and able to become a Notary
- Previous customer service experience is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy.
- Basic computer skills for data entry and using shipping software.
- Ability to lift and move packages of varying sizes and weights.
- Flexibility in working hours, including weekends and evenings.
- Familiarity with shipping carriers and their services is a plus.
Working Conditions:

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10 – 30 per week
