Three Keys Coffee, named by Food & Wine as the Best Coffee Roaster in TX, is a fast-growing, award-winning coffee roasting business based in Houston, TX. Started in 2019 by a Professional Engineer and an MBA, Three Keys Coffee was formed as an expansion of founders mutual passion and hobby of roasting and consuming specialty coffee.

Since formation, Three Keys has been shipped to all 50 states and even landed a 40+ store partnership with Trader Joe’s within its first year of business. Three Keys has won a Sprudgie award for Best Packaging Design in 2020 and was nominated as a finalist for Notable Roaster in 2021. Three Keys has also received numerous 92pt+ reviews by Coffee Review, including their “Congo Square” which was named one of the top 25 coffees of 2021. Roasting Operations:

  • Execute the daily production of roasted coffee to ensure manufacturing demands are met
  • Operates Giesen W6 and W15 roaster and ancillary equipment (Destoner, band sealer, etc.)
  • Measure batches, sort out green defects
  • Roast coffee to established profiles; Assist in developing new profiles for new beans/blends
  • Destone roasted beans; sort out defects post-roasting
  • Bagging, labeling, grinding, ensuring accuracy and completion of orders
  • Cleanup in roastery, including vacuuming and collecting chaff and cleaning floors, surfaces, utensils, etc
  • Update roast log before and after each shift
  • Participate in educational trainings and develop reports and materials to populate into a roastery knowledge/reference database
  • Track green bean inventory
  • Provide input on training manual and operating manual for staff and site
  • Perform start-up and shutdown for all roasting equipment
  • Accurate data entry using software including Giesen Profiler and Excel
  • Validate green coffee inventory through daily counts, and end of month inventory process
  • Follow procedures and policies while providing input for improving operational efficiencies through continuous improvement initiatives and projects
  • Good organizational, time management, problem-solving, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Pickup green coffee from Dupuy and coordinate receipt of deliveries


  • Performs all preventive maintenance and cleaning tasks for all roasting related equipment
  • Daily cleaning of roasting machinery and work area
  • Perform regular maintenance and cleaning of roaster machine and roastery equipment (including vent stack, grinder, destoner and brew equipment, as needed)

Order Fulfillment

  • Print shipping labels, assemble boxes and fulfill orders to be shipped
  • Review notes to ensure accurate fulfillment
  • Drop off at post-office and UPS


  • Ability to lift up to 50-75lb
  • Attention to detail
  • Analytical skills
  • Experience with roasting, cooking, or any heat transfer function
  • City of Houston Food Handler’s / Food Manager’s Permit (or ability to obtain within 30 days)
  • Ability to understand charts, graphs, percentages, and ratios

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $10.00 - $16.00 per hour

Expected hours: 25 – 40 per week
