About Us: The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is the largest provider of hands-on environmental conservation programs for youth and adults. Program participants protect and restore national parks, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, and community green spaces across the country.

Position Overview:

The SCA Alumni Engagement Fellow Intern will play a vital role in the Philanthropy Department by supporting the SCA’s alumni engagement strategies to build and strengthen relationships between the SCA and its community of over 100,000 alumni. As an SCA Fellow, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in engaging alumni through digital strategies, event opportunities, and more. This role provides an excellent opportunity to develop skills, network, and make a positive impact on the environment. All SCA Fellow Interns will operate as a cohort, participating in orientation, training, and ongoing check-ins together over the twelve weeks.

Duration: January 8, 2024 – March 29, 2024 (12 Weeks)


  • Manage the SCA Alumni LinkedIn Group and SCA Network including approving new members, sharing event, job, and other helpful information.
  • Increase the number verified alumni through our LiveAlumni platform, by creating messaging and conducting personal outreach to encourage alumni to add the SCA to their LinkedIn work experience.
  • Provide insight and help develop useful resources for alumni as they transition from active SCA members to alumni.
  • Provide event support for the Philanthropy Department, specifically for the 2024 SCA Virtual Career Fair and initial planning for Alumni Engagement Week.
  • Attend and actively participate in needed orientation, meetings, training sessions, and check-ins.
  • General administrative support and any other duties as needed based on priorities of the Philanthropy Department.

Project Outcomes:

  • Understand the LiveAlumni platform and increase the number of verified alumni to help us better support alumni needs and stay connected.
  • Increase the number of opportunities listed on the SCA Network Job Board.
  • Develop a monthly communication piece within the SCA Network to communicate new opportunities and resources for alumni and celebrate alumni success.


  • Deep foundation of knowledge about the SCA and its alumni network.
  • Excellent computer, written and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively with colleagues and alumni.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.
  • Detail oriented with the propensity to take initiative and be innovative.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and tackle new challenges with enthusiasm.
  • Ability to commit to the full duration of the Fellow internship and attend necessary orientation, trainings, check-ins, and meetings.
  • Access to a computer, reliable internet connectivity and ability to work remotely.
