About Us: The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is the largest provider of hands-on environmental conservation programs for youth and adults. Program participants protect and restore national parks, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, and community green spaces across the country.

Position Overview:

The SCA Fellow Intern will play a vital role in the Philanthropy Department by contributing to our storytelling initiatives through data interpretation. As an SCA Fellow, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in prospect research (identifying new foundation leads for the team to approach) and compiling, interpreting, and presenting data in a compelling way that will be used externally in reports, proposals, and outreach to partners and prospective donors. This opportunity provides an excellent opportunity to develop skills, network, and make a positive impact on the environment. All SCA Fellow Interns will operate as a cohort, participating in orientation, training, and ongoing check-ins together over the twelve weeks.

Department: Philanthropy Department (Institutional Giving Team)

Location: Fully Remote

Duration: January 8, 2024 – March 29, 2024 (12 Weeks, 25 hours per week)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with prospect research to identify and prioritize new foundation leads using the Foundation Directory Online. Training on how to use the Foundation Directory will be provided.
  • Research, compile, and organize geographic data and statistics by topic that can be easily incorporated into proposals to support the need for SCA programming.
  • Compile data, create graphs, and develop reports using post-program member survey data and alumni survey data to share the short-term and long-term impact of SCA programming with partners and prospects.
  • Attend and actively participate in needed orientation, meetings, training sessions, and check-ins.
  • General administrative support and any other duties as needed based on priorities of the Philanthropy Department.

Qualifications

  • Detail oriented with the propensity to take initiative and be innovative.
  • Experience and comfort with research, data, statistics, and APA citation formatting.
  • Strong knowledge of Excel which will be used to create graphs for reports and Microsoft Word. Tech savviness a plus.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and tackle new challenges with enthusiasm.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong passion for SCA’s mission.
  • Ability to commit to the full duration of the Fellow internship and attend necessary orientation, trainings, check-ins, and meetings.
  • Access to a computer, reliable internet connectivity, and ability to work remotely.
