About Us: The Student Conservation Association (SCA) is the largest provider of hands-on environmental conservation programs for youth and adults. Program participants protect and restore national parks, marine sanctuaries, cultural landmarks, and community green spaces across the country.

Position Overview:

The SCA Fellow Intern will play a vital role in preparing SCA staff and leaders for the 2024 field season through the creation of virtual safety and risk training content. As an SCA Fellow, you will work together with the Risk and Safety team to identify training priorities, write scripts, film content and edit material. This opportunity provides an excellent opportunity to develop skills, network, and make a positive impact on the environment. All SCA Fellow Interns will operate as a cohort, participating in orientation, training, and ongoing check-ins together over the twelve-week period.

Department: Safety and Risk Management

Location: Remote

Duration: January 8, 2024 – March 29, 2024 (12 Weeks, 25 hours per week)


  • Video Scripting: Collaborate with the training team to develop clear, concise, and engaging video scripts that effectively convey safety concepts.
  • Video Production: Assist in all stages of video production, including shooting, editing, and post-production tasks.
  • Graphic Design: Create visual aids and infographics to compliment video content and enhance understanding.
  • Voiceover and Narration: Record voiceovers or coordinate with internal talent to provide clear and articulate narration for the videos.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the safety and risk team to incorporate their feedback and suggestions into the video creation process.
  • Feedback Integration: Revise video content based on feedback and continuously improve video quality and effectiveness.
  • Project Management: Assist in the organization and tracking of video production projects to ensure timely delivery.
  • Perform any other duties as required by the Safety and Risk department.


  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Film, Media Production, Communication, a related field or relevant experience.
  • Strong interest in conservation, safety and risk management for outdoor programs.
  • Knowledge and experience with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, or other). Ability to learn SCA’s Learning Mangement System, Learn Upon.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality content.
  • Ability to work independently and present drafts for revision.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and tackle new challenges with enthusiasm.
  • Ability to commit to the full duration of the Fellow internship and attend necessary orientation, trainings, check-ins, and meetings.
  • Access to a computer, reliable internet connectivity and ability to work remotely [if applicable].
  • Video editing software like Abobe Premiere, Final Cut, or equivalent.
