We’re looking for a talented Scenic Fabrication CAD/Vectorworks Designer to join our dynamic team and help bring creative concepts to life.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Scenic Fabrication CAD/Vectorworks Designer to assist in the design, drafting, and development of scenic elements for various entertainment projects. The ideal candidate will be proficient in CAD software, particularly Vectorworks, and have experience in translating artistic concepts into technical drawings and fabrication plans. This role involves working closely with designers, fabricators, and production teams to ensure that the scenic elements are built to specification and delivered on time.
Key Responsibilities:
- Create accurate and detailed CAD drawings of scenic elements, sets, and props using Vectorworks.
- Collaborate with designers and engineers to interpret creative concepts and transform them into technical designs.
- Develop construction drawings, material lists, and fabrication specifications.
- Ensure designs meet all safety standards, budget constraints, and project timelines.
- Work closely with the fabrication team to resolve any design issues that arise during the production process.
- Coordinate with other departments (lighting, sound, rigging, etc.) to ensure seamless integration of all production elements.
- Assist in site inspections and on-site modifications as needed.
- Maintain organized documentation of design revisions and project changes.
Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Vectorworks is essential. Experience with other CAD software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, Rhino, etc.) is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in scenic design, drafting, or fabrication, preferably in live events, theater, or film production.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and fabrication processes.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in design and documentation.
- A passion for creativity and problem-solving in the entertainment industry.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree or certification in Scenic Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- Experience with 3D modeling and rendering software.
- Familiarity with rigging, stage automation, and other technical elements of live production.
