Four Fold Farm provides the Hudson Valley Seed Company with a wide range of open-pollinated, heirloom, organic seed varieties, tubers, and bulbs that it grows on its certified organic fields in beautiful Accord and Kerhonkson, NY. Many of these are unique varieties that cannot be sourced from suppliers and we add to our offerings each season.

About the Position

Four Fold Farm seeks a Seasonal Farm Crew Member to work with our team to plant, grow, harvest, and process seed crops from its certified organic fields. The schedule would be for 3 x 8 hour days/week (24 hours total) for this seasonal position that is set to start in May and run through November. A half-hour paid lunch is included as part of each day.

Responsibilities include:

• Working together with other team members on all aspects of seed production, including greenhouse work, transplanting, cultivating, irrigation set-up, and harvesting/tuber digging on our 2 sites of operation (Arrowhead and Airport Rd).
• Assisting with the cleaning and processing of crops after harvest/digging.
• Helping perform repair and maintenance on greenhouses, tunnels, and other facilities as needed.
• Contributing ideas for systems improvements and best practices.

What we are looking for:

• A beginning or lightly experienced farmer who wants to develop their farming skills and is ready to be trained.
• Commitment to Four Fold Farm / Hudson Valley Seed Co.’s mission and purpose.
• Time management skills to effectively set and follow a clear and ambitious schedule.
• Ability to remain committed to a task with a positive and level-headed approach while working outside in any type of weather.
• Ability to lift 50-70 pounds unassisted whenever necessary.
• Access to a vehicle. Because our business is located in a rural area in Accord, NY (30 minutes from Kingston or New Paltz, 20 minutes from Ellenville), public transportation is limited/not always reliable.

Pay: Starts at $18-$20/hour, depending on experience.
