Our Company
Grandma’s Gardens is a family-owned, independent, full-service nursery & garden center based in the heart of Waynesville with over 45 years’ experience. We are currently hiring a Full-Time Seasonal Nursery Sales Position to join our team. Working at the Garden Center offers many opportunities, especially for people who enjoy interacting with others while learning and sharing their love of plants.
The ideal candidate will be friendly with a positive attitude, a great work ethic, and a broad knowledge of plants. Horticulture experience is a plus but not required. Either a degree in Horticulture or a related field or equivalent hands-on working experience preferred. The ability to work weekends is a requirement. Qualified applicants should enjoy being outdoors working in all types of weather, be able to lift up to 40 lbs. and work well with others. Experience operating equipment such as skid steer loaders is also a plus also not required.
Seasonal work typically begins in the middle of March - early April and ends in November.
Job duties include:
- Assisting customers in selection of trees, shrubs, perennials, houseplants, mulch, insecticides, herbicides, fertilizers, and other garden related items
- Answer questions regarding the store and its merchandise
- Perform stocking duties in the nursery area as needed
- Assist with plant care, diagnosing plant issues, fertilizing, pruning, and watering
- Keep store and outside area neat and clean
- We encourage our employees to put their creative talents to work designing / rotating displays
Looking for someone who has:
- A positive, team player attitude
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent customer service skills to provide a positive shopping experience
- Knowledge of plants (trees, shrubs, annuals, perennials, houseplants) is a bonus
- Strong organizational skills to maintain a well-organized garden center
- Sales skills to promote products ~ plant materials, pottery, fountains and other gardening items

Horticultural experience is a PLUS, but is not required to apply for this position. We will train the right candidate. We are looking for individuals that are passionate about the outdoors, plants/landscaping/gardening, and are looking to grow with our company
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $17.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
