The mission of the Anti-Recidivism Coalition (ARC) is to change lives and create safe and healthy communities by providing a support and advocacy network for, and comprised of, formerly incarcerated young men and women. To accomplish this mission, ARC advocates for fair policies in the juvenile and criminal justice systems and provides a supportive network of reentry services to formerly incarcerated individuals. Position Summary

The Senate Bill (SB) 731 Legal Project Manager will work to support ARC members to access critical record-cleaning opportunities under SB 731, which went into effect January 3, 2022. SB 731 expands record sealing to all sentences following completion of terms of incarceration, post release supervision, and an additional period - provided the person has completed their sentence without any new felony convictions and has no new charges pending through a phased relief process. This law is the most comprehensive record cleaning legislation in the country. This record cleaning relief will be critical for ARC members to overcome the barriers they face due to their records.

The Legal Project Manager will play a critical role in supporting ARC members and their ongoing commitment towards redemption and public safety.

The position will have a duration of 2 years from the date of hire and option to continue depending on need.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develop a system by which ARC will support ARC members through the SB 731 process.
  • Timely schedule members for relevant appointments and clinics.
  • Support members in gathering relevant documents and other information for case assessment and to file with petitions.
  • Coordinate volunteer attorneys in supporting ARC members through their SB 731 process.
  • Review survey results and track case status and relevant data.
  • Attend and lead legal clinics regarding SB 731.
  • Finalize, file, and help serve completed petitions.
  • Timely keep ARC members abreast of case development, including court dates.
  • Serve as a point of contact for members who are working with pro bono volunteers.
  • Help manage communication between members and legal staff.
  • Provide success stories for the communications department.
  • Provide additional support on cases as needed.
  • Help organize informational events and clinics for ARC members across the state.


  • Legal background, required. Attorney licensed to practice in California preferred.
  • Excellent computer skills, including case management software, Excel, Word, and email.
  • Ability to work with people from a range of backgrounds, systems-impacted clients, other ARC staff, and attorneys from nonprofits, law firms, and corporations.
  • Demonstrated communication habits that are consistently prompt and responsive.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team.
  • Consistently address issues with a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational skills, particularly scheduling, data tracking, and gathering documents for significant volumes of clients and volunteers.
  • Ability to pay close attention to key details.
  • Integrity to handle sensitive and highly confidential information with utmost care.
  • Assist with preparing various internal and external presentations.


  • Salary Range $70,000k - $75,000k annually doe.
  • ARC pays up to 100% medical/dental/vision benefits for the individual; up to 50% for dependents.
