Full job description

Senior Tellers are experienced, customer-focused professionals and leaders on the teller line.

Essex Bank is seeking a full-time Senior Teller to support branch operations and deliver exceptional customer service. Under the direction of the Teller Supervisor and Branch Management Team, the Senior Teller is responsible for processing both routine and complex financial transactions, providing accurate and complete account information, and serving as a role model for excellent service. This position supports the Teller Supervisor, assists with teller line leadership, identifies cross-sell opportunities, and ensures compliance with Bank policies and procedures.

  • Welcomes customers, builds strong relationships, and delivers an exceptional banking experience.
  • Processes basic and complex teller transactions accurately and efficiently, including specialty items.
  • Serves as a role model for customer service, professionalism, and operational excellence on the teller line.
  • Provides leadership, training, guidance, and support to less experienced tellers.
  • Identifies customer needs, refers opportunities to appropriate internal partners, and supports business development efforts.
  • Assists with branch operations and assumes teller line responsibilities in the absence of the Teller Supervisor.
  • Supports compliance with security procedures, Bank Secrecy Act requirements, and applicable regulations.

Basic Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required; college coursework or technical certification preferred.
  • Five years of experience as a Teller or equivalent banking role.
  • Strong basic math, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and banking transactions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous supervisory or lead teller experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, train, and motivate team members.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional demeanor.
  • High attention to detail with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of Bank Secrecy Act, Reg CC, and other applicable banking regulations.
  • Ability to work the required branch schedule, including Saturdays.
