Job Summary

Energy IQ is seeking a highly skilled and proven Senior Field Engineer to integrate, commission, and optimize complex building automation systems for mission-critical, data center, healthcare, arenas, hospitality, and high-end commercial facilities. This role involves advanced engineering, technical leadership on complex integration projects, and high-level client consultation, spanning the entire project lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the trusted building controls expert for our customers, providing guidance on system architecture, contractor coordination, accountability, and ongoing support across all building control disciplines.
  • Lead the design and implementation of integrated building automation and energy optimization solutions.
  • Oversee and lead the integration of Tridium Niagara systems with third-party platforms, such as ALC, Trane, Siemens, Schneider, JCI, and Honeywell.
  • Provide expert installation, startup, and advanced commissioning services for new and retrofit building automation projects.
  • Perform advanced troubleshooting across integrated customer control, mechanical, and electrical systems.
  • Develop, program, and troubleshoot complex control logic across integrated systems, including PLCs, as required per project scope.
  • Manage and ensure the timely, on-budget completion of complex integration projects in accordance with contractual requirements.

Requirements

  • 5 or more years of progressive experience in the design, installation, programming, and troubleshooting of automation systems and integrating with complex third-party equipment.
  • Expert-level programming experience in at least one major building automation platform such as ALC, Tridium Niagara, Trane Summit/Tracer, Siemens, Schneider, Johnson Controls FX, or Honeywell.
  • Expert knowledge of network architecture, cybersecurity protocols, and control network protocols including BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks.
  • Comprehensive understanding of commercial building mechanical and electrical operations, HVAC, central plant optimization, and advanced controls concepts.
  • Working knowledge of electrical and electronics concepts associated with control systems.
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace or Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and Visio.
  • Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time within the US.
  • Close proximity to a major airport, or local to South Florida.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with Automated Logic Controls (ALC), with working knowledge of Tridium Niagara.
  • Expert programming experience across multiple building automation platforms, with mastery of Tridium Niagara.
  • Tridium Niagara Certification or equivalent ALC certification, or equivalent demonstrated senior-level engineering expertise.
  • Hands-on experience with ILC/PLC controllers.
