Civil Designer – Houston or College Station, Texas

Civil Designer with 8+ years of experience in civil site design, land development, public works, and transportation projects. Detailed knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D. Responsible for CAD design for civil projects, preparing construction drawings, reviewing construction drawings (QA/QC), and addressing client, jurisdictional, and internal comments. Capable of working as part of a project team, or as an individual designer.

Detailed Knowledge/Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience
• Use CAD software to prepare construction drawings and exhibits
• Use software design tools to assist in design of projects
• Assists CAD Manager to create and manage Standard Details
• Communicate design intent, tasks, methods, etc. with project team
• Ensure construction drawings and files meet company and/or client standards
• Ensure projects meet design criteria
• Incorporate surveys, as-builts, and architectural backgrounds to create civil design backgrounds
• Coordinate consultant designs (architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, structural, landscaping, etc.)
• Create existing and proposed surfaces
• Design civil site project paving, grading, drainage, utility, and storm water pollution prevention
• Prepare floodplain mitigation cut/fill calculations and sections
• Perform cut/fill calculations, quantity takeoffs
• Create layouts, profiles, and sections for construction drawings
• Prepare civil site layouts
• Prepare roadway plan and profiles, traffic control plans, earthwork, and signage & striping layouts, traffic signal layouts, and custom details
• Complete Express Review Sheets (Harris County projects)
• Complete project review checklists
• Assist Project Engineer to complete project comment response forms
• Perform project electronic transmittals
