Wayne Senior Center is seeking an energetic, creative and forward thinking Program Coordinator to join our dynamic team! This position is responsible for leading, organizing, and implementing a full schedule of daytime activities, classes, and special events at Wayne Senior Center. This position is full-time with a benefits package including medical, PTO, and retirement contribution. Position is Monday through Friday, with occasional evening and/or weekend responsibilities. Some hybrid options possible. Previous experience working with an older adult population preferred but not required. Salary range $40,000-$45,000, DOE.


· In conjunction with the Program Director, assist with and advise the overall programmatic vision of the organization and the development of new, innovative programs which support positive, healthy aging.

· Lead programs – ability to create, maintain and lead various classes, including, but not limited to educational, health and wellness, intergenerational, nutritional, recreational and social. May be hybrid, virtual or in person.

· Along with the Program Director, assist hired class instructors in starting the program and if necessary, provide introduction to participants. May be hybrid, virtual or in person.

· Design and edit the monthly newsletter and calendar. Create flyers and graphics promoting programs and special events within the Center.

· Provide backup to the Center Assistant in the scheduling of appointments, registration for programs and other inquiries about the Center programs.

· Provide back up to the Office Manager and Center Assistant in greeting visitors by phone and in person, providing tours for prospective member walk in’s, direct visitors to appropriate staff and programs, and distribute Center literature.

· Provide back up to the Center Assistant in completing enrollment of new memberships and membership renewals.

· Assist other staff members as requested; other duties as necessary.

· Some flexibility necessary for work hours and location (Occasional offsite or early evening programs may occur).


· 2 or 4 year degree required. Relevant experience with older adults desired.

· Respect and compassion for older adults- maintain a professional manner.

· Ability to be flexible, self motivated and multitask; work both independently and on a team.

· A welcoming presence that promotes the Center and helps members find ways to engage.

· Work to maintain a neat, safe, friendly, upbeat Center environment.

· Excellent customer service, telephone and interpersonal skills.

· Computer skills. Proficient in Microsoft 365/Teams, Canva.

· Excellent organizational skills.

· Ability to handle emergency situations. Willing to complete AED/CPR Certification.

· Positive attitude and respectful sense of humor are essential

· Valid Driver’s License and auto insurance as required by the state

Reports to the Program Director.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
