About EMA

EMA develops advanced computational electromagnetics (CEM) software for high-fidelity simulation of complex electromagnetic environments. Our tools are used to analyze antennas, RF systems, cable harnesses, enclosures, and unintentional emitters in demanding real-world conditions.

Position Overview

The Senior CEM RF Engineer will lead rigorous modeling and validation efforts for antennas, RF devices, and unintentional emitters using EMA’s computational electromagnetics tools.

This role is focused on advanced application engineering to support product development and to ensure our internal engineering teams and customers achieve highly accurate, validated simulation results using EMA’s solvers.

You will systematically evaluate antenna classes, emitter types, and excitation methods, refining simulation setup and post-processing approaches to optimize correlation against measured data, alternative numerical techniques, and published literature.

This individual will also support EMA’s internal services teams and serve as technical lead on selected customer engagements, mentoring junior engineers in a supporting role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and validate high-fidelity antenna and RF simulation workflows using EMA’s solvers.
  • Systematically evaluate antenna types including wire antennas, patch antennas, arrays, apertures, and broadband/narrowband designs.
  • Model unintentional emitters such as cables, PCBs, harnesses, and enclosures.
  • Assess multiple excitation types including lumped sources, wave ports, plane waves, and current sources.
  • Refine meshing strategies, boundary conditions, solver settings, and post-processing techniques to improve numerical stability and correlation accuracy.
  • Benchmark EMA solver results against measured data, other numerical techniques (FEM, MoM, FDTD, hybrid methods), and published literature.
  • Provide technical guidance to internal services engineers performing antenna and RF simulations.
  • Troubleshoot convergence, excitation, and modeling challenges on active projects.
  • Serve as technical lead on selected services engagements and mentor junior engineers.
  • Develop internal validation libraries, benchmark models, and best practice documentation.

Required Qualifications

  • MS in Electrical Engineering with emphasis in electromagnetics or RF engineering.
  • Approximately 10+ years of experience in computational electromagnetics and RF modeling.
  • Strong foundation in antenna theory and RF systems.
  • Experience modeling antennas and RF devices using CEM tools (FDTD, FEM, MoM, or hybrid solvers).
  • Experience correlating simulation results with measured data.
  • Deep understanding of meshing strategies, boundary conditions, excitation methods, and numerical stability.
  • Experience analyzing S-parameters, radiation patterns, near-field and far-field data.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Active U.S. Secret security clearance required (or ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance, if applicable).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience modeling unintentional emitters such as cables, harnesses, PCBs, and enclosures.
  • Familiarity with EMC/EMI measurement techniques and test environments.
  • Experience developing structured validation benchmarks or test matrices.
  • Scripting or automation experience (Python, MATLAB, etc.).
  • Experience mentoring junior engineers.

What Success Looks Like

  • Improved correlation between EMA solver predictions and measured antenna/RF test data.
  • Clear internal best practices for antenna and emitter modeling.
  • Increased accuracy and confidence in services-delivered simulation results.
  • Strong technical leadership on complex RF modeling engagements.
