Job Summary

Our design engineering team plays a crucial role in providing our customers, both internal and external, an exceptional experience by providing engineering technical support, in-depth mechanical analysis and designing or developing best in class products to meet quality, value and functionality expectations. They provide excellent customer service, promote, and support our products and are a valued teammate. As a senior member of the team, it is your responsibility to lead the most challenging and projects as well as setting the standard for excellence for the whole team. This position does not include any direct reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Product Design

· Key steward in maintaining industry-leading quality and safety standards. Integrates latest safety features into equipment designs while maintaining functionality.

· Ability to create engineering designs utilizing established standards and deviates when appropriate to meet customer application requirements.

· Create accurate documentation for equipment, including but not limited to: drawings, bills of material, sketches, written and verbal instructions.

· Familiar with product manufacturing processes and the general cost impact of the various processes to make best cost recommendations to Sales and customers.

Product Support:

· Critical resource in creating a best in class engineering organization through compilation, creation and systematic implementation of engineering design and production standards.

· Subject matter expert in 3D parametric modeling, parameter based design and data management tools.

· Serve as a technical resource for our customers, applies engineering principles, product knowledge and practical experience to make customer recommendations.

· Skilled in handling customer calls and technical inquiries, provides expert feedback in a timely and courteous manner.

· When required, is able to provide onsite engineering support at our customer locations to assist the sales group, assess customer warranty or product issues, commission new equipment, and conduct testing.

· Utilizes systematic problem solving methodology to identify root causes of product application/quality problems and make recommendations for improvements.

Production Management:

· Key member of the project team to ensure a quality product is produced on time and per customer specifications.

· Supports the production group and is a technical resource for all production inquiries relating to design and materials.

· Accountable for the accuracy and completeness of engineering prints, bill of materials, and production jobs.

· Continually improving product designs by seeking input from Production, Sales and Engineering to implement best in class production techniques and processes.

· Attend production meetings and project review meetings as needed to insure the timely completion of projects.

Experience & Education

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • At least 8 years experience; 6 years with CAD software for mechanical design.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems
  • Experience leading complex projects
  • Experience with global engineering standards and regulations. (e.g. ATEX, CSA, NFPA, ISO, UL),
