Position Summary:
The Lumber Manufactory (TLM) is seeking an Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join our team. The Electrical Design Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the sawmill development process, including research and development (R&D) activities.

Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement control systems and other electrical systems for TLM's sawmilling systems.
- Resolve sawmilling equipment electrical issues (requires proficiency utilizing lab equipment). Debug electrical issues associated with engine controller design and controller design for manufacturing issues.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements and specifications
- Develop control system architectures and select appropriate hardware and software components
- Support and become expert at the methodologies and circuits that implement precision electronic instrumentation measurements as used sawmilling equipment controllers.
- Program logic controllers (PLCs) and human-machine interfaces (HMIs) using industry-standard programming languages
- Conduct system testing and debugging to ensure proper functionality
- Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and maintenance of control systems
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate control systems with mechanical component
- Become expert at processing/documenting non-conforming development issues.
- Gain proficiency with schematic entry and analysis tools to affect change from ongoing product discoveries.
- Engage and resolve manufacturing issues with contract manufacturing partners
- Learn fundamental operation of the core circuits: embedded processor watchdog, reset logic, analog instrumentation and other circuits related to sensors, actuators and their accuracy.
- Own hardware from conceptual design through production and in-mill operation
- Demonstrate extreme ownership of product outcomes at every stage of system design, development, test and implementation
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
- 5+ years' experience in electrical engineering.
- Proficiency in programming logic controllers (PLCs)
- Experience with CAD software for electrical schematics design
- Excellent debugging skills to identify and resolve issues in control systems
- Mechanical knowledge to collaborate effectively with mechanical engineers
- Proficiency in Simulink, Inventor & Fusion360, and/or other relevant software tools
- Must have strong problem-solving skills.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work on a team under pressure under deadline pressure in a fast-paced environment.
