CorePower Magnetics is pioneering advanced magnetic technologies and components for sustainable power applications spanning electric vehicles, renewable energy infrastructure, and the modernized grid. We are establishing a new 10,000 ton per year domestic manufacturing facility for transformer, inductor, and motor alloys in conjunction with a major Department of Energy grant.

We are seeking an exceptional and experienced Senior Electromechanical Engineer to lead our advanced design and optimization efforts with a focus on electric motors and other electromechanical systems. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving innovation in modeling and simulation techniques, establishing best practices in testing and validation, and providing technical leadership to our engineering team, all while embodying our CoreValues.

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize safety and well-being and maintain the highest level of integrity in technical execution as well as engagements with customers, company, and all other stakeholders.
  • Lead development, standardization, and application of advanced modeling and simulation to design and optimize components, including enhancements to underlying physics and methods.
  • Establish, standardize, and oversee implementation of testing procedures to validate components and access necessary information as required to improve fidelity of design tools.
  • Analyze design results from models and testing results from prototypes to make strategic recommendations for design modifications and improvements, fostering open communication.
  • Forge and maintain strong collaborations with university and industry stakeholders to further develop and enhance design tools and capabilities, build relationships with development partners and potential hires, and lead technology transfer activities to strengthen company IP.
  • Engage with internal design engineers regarding customer and product design engagements to pursue design modifications, optimization, and customization of component technologies using advanced design tools and methods to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Oversee and coordinate with internal engineers, suppliers, and all other stakeholders to effectively build, characterize, and validate components based upon optimized designs.
  • Drive continuous improvement of modeling and design tools as well as validation methods used in component and system level design based upon experimental feedback from prototypes, scientific literature, and learnings from collaborative engagements with external partners.
  • Manage and execute high-level tasks according to agreed upon deadlines while exceeding expectations on quality of work, delivering results that align with the company's values.
  • Execute on assigned responsibilities with a sense of urgency and accountability, ensuring timely completion of critical path designs and experimental validation and effective time management.
  • Author and review technical reports of completed work for internal and external purposes, including white papers and funded work proposals.
  • Develop and contribute to work proposals, including government proposals, and serve as principal investigator, co-principal investigator, technical lead, and/or key technical personnel.
  • Represent CorePower Magnetics as a subject matter expert in professional technical conferences and other venues, in the form of attendance and delivery of approved presentation materials.
  • Provide technical leadership and perform all other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • MS or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field, with a strong commitment to safety and well-being.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in electromechanical design, electric machine design, or a related field, with demonstrated track record of integrity and open communication.
  • Expertise in electromagnetic theory, thermal management, and mechanical design principles.
  • Experience with advanced design optimization techniques and methodologies, as well as simulation software such as Ansys, Comsol, or similar tools, with delivery of high-quality results.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of testing procedures and validation methods for electromechanical systems including electric motors, maintaining the highest standards of safety and integrity.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Proven track record of successful project management and meeting deadlines, consistently delivering results that align with the company's values.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Capability to lead and mentor teams in a collaborative environment, empowering and elevating team members to reach their full potential.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in electromechanical design, electric machine design, or a related field, with demonstrated track record of integrity and open communication.
  • Demonstrated mastery in electromagnetic theory, thermal management, and mechanical design principles evidenced by scientific publications, intellectual property, and product development.
  • Demonstrated capability to lead and mentor teams in a collaborative environment, empowering and elevating team members to reach their full potential as evidenced by prior roles.
  • Significant experience with electric vehicle powertrains, renewable energy systems, and / or industrial electromechanical systems with focus on delivering innovative solutions.
  • Prior evidence of relevant work accomplishments that prioritize safety and well-being.
  • In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes and supply chain management, maintaining integrity and open communication with all stakeholders.
  • Extensive experience with intellectual property management and technology transfer
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
  • Record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings, promoting open communication and knowledge sharing within the scientific community.
