Job Overview:

Please note that candidates without extensive experience in compressed air systems will not be considered for this position.

We are currently seeking a Senior Engineer for Compressed Air Consultants, Inc. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth audits on both the supply and demand sides of compressed air systems within diverse manufacturing plants primarily in North America with some potential international work.

Compressed air audits are systematic assessments of compressed air systems aiming to identify inefficiencies, wastage, and potential areas for improvement. These audits are generally divided into two categories: supply-side audits and demand-side audits. Supply-side audits concentrate on the components of a compressed air system responsible for generating and delivering the compressed air. This includes air compressors, aftercoolers, dryers, filters, and the distribution system. The focus is to evaluate the efficiency of air production and the health of the supply-side infrastructure.

On the other hand, demand-side audits are focused on how the compressed air is utilized within a facility. It involves examining all the end-use applications such as tools, machinery, and processes that use the compressed air. The goal is to understand the facility's air usage profile, pinpoint wasteful practices, and discover opportunities for demand reduction and system optimization. Both supply-side and demand-side audits together provide a comprehensive view of a facility's compressed air system, making them an essential tool for improving efficiency and reducing energy costs.

In this position, you will apply your technical expertise and problem-solving skills to assess system performance, identify inefficiencies, and make recommendations for improvements.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze system supply and demand components, evaluating compressors, dryers, distribution systems, end uses, controls, maintenance procedures, and energy management practices.
  • Prepare detailed audit reports that summarize findings, recommendations, and projected cost savings.
  • Review and update audit procedures and protocols to ensure they remain current with industry best practices.
  • Travel to client manufacturing plants primarily in North America to perform audits.
  • Collaborate closely with clients to understand their specific needs, provide advice and guidance, and support them in achieving their energy efficiency goals.
  • Participate in continuous learning and professional development activities to stay abreast of new technologies and trends in compressed air systems.
  • Work in a hybrid model with a blend of remote work and on-site visits.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related technical field. Advanced degree or certifications in energy management or related area preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in compressed air system design, operation, maintenance, or auditing. This can include salespersons.
  • In-depth understanding of compressed air systems, including knowledge of various types of compressors, air treatment equipment, distribution systems, and end uses.
  • Familiarity with energy management principles and practices.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical writing skills.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with diverse teams and clients.
  • Willingness to travel
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and industry-specific software.

Benefits:

  • Competitive Salary with Bonuses typically in the 10-30% range
  • SIMPLE IRA Retirement Plan
  • Paid Time Off
  • Professional Development Opportunities
  • Travel Expense Reimbursement
  • Earned sweat equity - All of our current employees have earned equity in the company
