Title: Senior Mechanic

Reports to: Operations Manager

Direct Reports: None

Status: Non-Exempt

Position Type/Expected Hours: Full-time, hourly, Monday-Friday. This position requires scheduled and frequent overtime, call outs, and extended hours as necessary.

Work Location: Position based out of Pierce, CO with local travel. Must live within a 45-minute response time of primary work location.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

The Mechanic is responsible for providing maintenance support for all rotating equipment, gas compression, and processing equipment within the Pierce Plant and associated gathering system. The Mechanic will be responsible for scheduled maintenance and unplanned repairs.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various types of natural gas compressors
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair natural gas fired engines
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair positive displacement and centrifugal pumps
  • Complete scheduled maintenance on plant and field equipment
  • Coordinate with plant and field operations to monitor equipment and minimize equipment downtime
  • Maintain spare parts inventory for plant and field equipment
  • Monitor performance of engines, compressors, and pumps to improve reliability and equipment utilization

Competencies

  • Ability to perform minor and major repairs on compressors, engines, vertical, and horizontal pumps
  • Ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair rotating equipment
  • Knowledge of, and experienced in, lock out tag out requirements for process, compression and pipeline facilities
  • Able to remain focused and work alone with minimal supervision
  • In depth understanding of, and ability to create and follow, preventative maintenance programs
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems and develop necessary repair plans
  • Willing to accept accountability for own decisions, performance, and behavior
  • Perform rounds of all necessary equipment as needed to maintain operations and identify possible issues proactively

Work Environment/Physical Demands

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work around high and low temperatures, high pressure natural gas, natural gas liquids, moving mechanical parts, high noise levels, amine, TEG, methanol, and other possible chemicals and machinery required as part of plant and pipeline/gathering operations
  • Daily duties will consist of indoor and outdoor duties, with exposure to normal and extreme weather conditions, including but not limited to extreme heat and extreme cold
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
  • The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum of 5 years of directly related mechanical experience
  • General knowledge of government, safety, and environmental regulations and policies relevant to natural gas processing
  • Demonstrated Safety, Health, and Environmental performance
  • Valid driver’s license with safe and acceptable driving record
  • Proficient with computers including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
