Position Summary

The Anti-Recidivism Coalition is hoping to hire a Senior Researcher and Evaluator (SRE) to join its Research, Evaluation, and Innovation team to provide support to ARC’s program and development staff, and help the Executive and Deputy Directors make data-informed strategic decisions impacting the organization. Responsibilities include program evaluation and survey design, overseeing data collection, supporting ARC’s Applied Researcher in database monitoring and troubleshooting, data validation, reporting, monitoring of outcomes, and translating and sharing data findings to internal and external stakeholders to advance ARC’s efforts in building evidence and creating a data-centric culture. The Senior Researcher and Evaluator will work closely with ARC program leaders to maintain accurate, quality information and provide critical data system support to ARC. The SRE will serve as the internal and external subject matter expert creatively and dynamically translating data and research into impact for ARC members.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Lead the development of data collection tools (e.g., surveys, focus groups protocols), data collection, and data analysis using platforms such as STATA, R or SPSS
  • Manage research in the appropriate data base for ARC’s data tracking and internal
  • research and evaluation purposes
  • Keep relevant staff and external partners and stakeholders informed about upcoming deadlines and deliverables
  • Work in collaboration with program leaders to ensure accurate and effective monitoring of programs, data collection, implementation, outcomes, and learning questions for evidence-building
  • Prepare performance metrics in collaboration with other ARC staff as well as cross-functionally, particularly with financial, philanthropic, governmental, and programmatic requirements
  • Routinely present updated reports and insights to program leaders
  • Monitor, analyze, and identify ARC community needs and assets
  • Support ARC’s Applied Researcher in analyzing data and writing reports, when requested, to support ARC’s programs and development teams
  • Identify, understand, and manage software in partnership with the Applied Researcher to ensure security and data integrity
  • Establish policies and procedures for sharing data and knowledge internally and externally
  • Expand ARC’s use of data, knowledge, resources, and stories to demonstrate impact, leveraging digital innovations as an opportunity to craft new experiences and enable measurable outcomes
  • Execute innovative stakeholder partnerships to educate and inform current donors, community leaders, policymakers, and volunteers about ARC’s activities and program outcomes
  • Collaborate well with all organizational leaders and staff, especially with leaders of the programmatic, policy, communications, and development areas, to better align our programmatic work with evidenced based practices and emerging needs
  • Create clear and concise visualization tools and dashboards to track programmatic outcomes to support program leaders as requested
  • Support ARC’s efforts to create a data-centric culture with more data literacy among its staff

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree or extensive experience in human behavior research
  • 5 years minimum experience in research and evaluation work
  • Experience with sorting, manipulating, and validating data within databases
  • Proficient in MS office with expert proficiency in Excel
  • Experience with both qualitative and quantitative data analyses software, including JASP, SPSS, R or STATA
  • Ability to conduct literature reviews
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice academic, policy and community discourse
  • Ability to lead multiple research and evaluation projects simultaneously
  • Excellent written, verbal, quantitative and computer skills, and the ability to use MS Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook programs (or equivalent)
  • Effectiveness working with senior or executive team members
  • Ability to facilitate group processes and data-informed decision-making
  • Ability to think critically and form strategies to develop community partnerships necessary to support ARC member and organizational needs
  • Consistently meet deadlines
  • Organize and prioritize work
  • Experience leading projects to successfully accomplish a goal and managing teams and community partners
  • Exceptionally motivated, detail-oriented, team player
  • Experience presenting to the public
  • Demonstrated cultural humility and ability to communicate respectfully to all program staff and willingness to support staff with data needs.

Salary/Benefits

  • $75k-$85K/annual rate DOE
  • Multiple employer medical/dental/ vision plans with up to 100% employee coverage, 50% for dependents.
  • 10 paid vacation days, 6 paid sick days.
