Opportunity:

Wyze is actively seeking a highly experienced Senior Scientist with an in-depth understanding of current AI trends and algorithms, especially in fields such as object detection, visual-language models, and computer vision. This role demands a hands-on approach to critical problem-solving and the ability to communicate effectively with various stakeholders. As a crucial member of our innovative team, you will lead the creation, implementation, and performance monitoring of state-of-the-art machine learning models that are integral to our products and services.

Responsibilities:

  • Invent, build, and monitor the performance of state-of-the-art machine learning models for a variety of tasks, including object detection, face recognition, pose estimation, event recognition, object tracking, sound detection, and speech recognition.
  • Lead research and development initiatives, applying your in-depth knowledge of AI trends and algorithms, to enhance the technologies that underpin Wyze's products and services.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and software developers to create data pipelines that ingest, process, and analyze data crucial to computer vision models.
  • Work in tandem with fellow scientists and engineers to develop the AI platform for model training, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Partner with software developers on productizing models, ensuring their seamless integration into our applications and systems.
  • Proactively analyze and question the quality of data used in computer vision models. Develop strategies to monitor data quality and suggest ways to mitigate noise when necessary.
  • Diligently evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the models, continually assess their performance, and propose ways to quantify the patterns of errors made by the models.
  • Document, patent, and publish your breakthroughs in top-tier computer vision and machine learning conferences and journals, thus showcasing Wyze's expertise in the field.
  • Provide technical mentorship to junior scientists, nurturing their professional growth and expansion.

Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Data Science, or a related field, with a focus on computer vision, machine learning, or a related discipline.
  • Solid research experience, evidenced by a history of scientific contributions, including articles in leading conferences or journals.
  • Expert knowledge in AI trends and algorithms, including object detection, visual-language models, and broader computer vision.
  • Proficiency in Python is a must, along with experience with related libraries and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn). Familiarity with C++ is considered a plus, but not required.
  • Proven hands-on experience in tackling critical problems through the design and application of algorithms and models.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of employing scientific methods to solve real-world challenges.
  • Experience with experimental design, data compilation, and statistical evaluation.
  • Familiarity with data preprocessing, feature extraction, and data visualization methodologies.
  • Exceptional communication skills, adept at conveying complex technical concepts to diverse stakeholders, including product, engineering, and data analytics teams.
  • Excellent collaboration and teamwork skills, with the capacity to perform effectively in a dynamic, high-energy setting.

Pay: $184,000.00 - $206,000.00 per year
