Full job description
The SEO Director’s main responsibility will be to work with a team of SEO Specialists and Evergreen Content Creators to optimize content, ensure SEO best practices are being respected, create content plans with a heavy focus on evergreen pages, and monitor/track the success of content.
This position is full-time and exempt from overtime. The SEO Director will report to the Sr. Director of Operations.
Primary Qualifications
- At least two years of experience in the sports media industry.
- Minimum of one to two years of hands-on experience in an SEO-related role.
- Have an impeccable understanding of Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
- Have an impeccable understanding of what makes a great user experience.
- Efficient, effective, and skilled SEO copywriter.
- Firm grasp of keyword research and on-page optimization, as well as familiarity with technical SEO
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects during the work day.
- A relentless eye for detail.
- Ability to respond quickly and efficiently.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- The ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- The ability to manage a group of part-time employees.
- The ability to manage schedules and ensure constant coverage.
Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure an impeccable user experience on every page throughout the website.
- Analyze website layout and pages for SEO improvements and optimization.
- Identify and execute strategies to target increased time on page, recirculation, and increased scroll depth.
- Ensure home page is optimized and up-to-date.
- Manage & execute appropriate internal/external link-building strategies on every page and post.
- Use in-depth knowledge of keyword research to pitch content ideas.
- Monitor search algorithms to understand the effectiveness of content.
- Heavy focus on building evergreen pages.
- Ensure evergreen content continues to perform.
- Ensure content is respecting SEO best practices.
- Lead a team of SEO Specialists who will be tasked with content template creation, pre-publish and post-publish optimization, evergreen content updates.
- Manage the schedules and coverage of the SEO Specialists team members.
Additional Expectations
- Assist with SEO recommendations for audio, visual, and social media improvements.
- Perform competitor analysis to identify content gaps and areas for improvement.
- Create data tracking projects through tools like Looker Studio and Google Search Console.
