BACKGROUND

Hi there! My name is Emily. My husband, Josh, and I own J Thomas Home, a custom furniture, cabinetry, and home decor company.

We started this business out of our garage in 2016, and now own our manufacturing workshop in Olathe, KS.

Our team cuts, sands, stains, and paints each item, custom-made, upon order, and ships them to homes and businesses across the United States.

Larger custom furniture pieces, including dining tables, office desks and conference tables, and cabinetry are custom-made and delivered / installed for local Kansas City-area customers.

This year, we are building out a showroom in the north end of the workshop. We'll have a place to display our cabinetry, shelving, and custom furniture samples, a conference room to meet with customers, and staff / office areas, too.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Order Fulfillment
Carefully look over each item, making sure it meets our standards/expectations, and then pair it with the correct order form, hardware, instructions, as needed. Additionally, knowing which orders are due today and tomorrow, and taking the action required to ensure timely shipment of every order due.

Our expectation is 100% accurately-shipped orders. This is not difficult to do, but requires attention to detail.

Quality Control
Painting, staining, touching up orders as needed to meet our expectations, spray painting, or shipping as needed. A willingness to jump in and get your hands dirty is a must.

Shipping Team Leader
Greet local customers when they pick up their order, and possibly handle customer service questions or issues mainly via online ticket submissions to ensure we send each customer the perfect pieces, on time.

Additionally, you will be responsible for managing a small team of shippers -- setting their schedules (expectations of quantities/orders shipped during their shift), answer questions, provide training, and ensuring orders due are shipped timely.

Inventory Management
Planning ahead to ensure the shipping team has all the supplies they'll need to successfully complete all orders on time, including hardware, brackets, screws, shipping and packaging supplies, etc.

This isn't your typical "office" setting. You'll work in the same area as the production of our products, so it's a little noisy sometimes, and a little dusty, too.

This is a physical job -- you will be moving much of the day.

ADDITIONAL INFO

Having the right person on the team will help free both Josh and I up to meet with customers, develop new products, and continue the plans for the showroom buildout so the company can continue to grow!

We'll begin training daily on current processes as-is, and then work to improve or create new processes together.

COVID-19 considerations:
The shop is large enough most activities during the day are completed 6ft or farther away from other employees. Masks and other PPE were already generally worn for our tasks like sanding, staining, and painting. Curbside customer order pick up available.
