Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Shipping & Receiving Clerk to join our team. The Shipping & Receiving Clerk will be responsible for ensuring accurate and timely shipment of orders, maintaining shipping records, and coordinating with various departments to fulfill customer orders. The ideal candidate should possess excellent organizational and communication skills, be proficient in handling shipping documentation, and have a strong commitment to meeting deadlines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Process and prepare shipments for delivery.
- Pick up or deliver items via company flatbed or pickup truck.
- Safely transport materials to departments using a forklift.
- Verify and pack items to be shipped, ensuring proper packaging and labeling.
- Coordinate with staff to prioritize and fulfill customer orders in a timely manner.
- Generate shipping labels, packing slips, and other required documentation.
- Inspect outgoing shipments to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Communicate with carriers to schedule pickups and track shipments in transit.
- Maintain accurate records of all shipments, including tracking information and delivery confirmations.
- Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to address any shipping-related inquiries or issues.
- Monitor and replenish shipping supplies as needed.
- Keep the shipping area clean, organized, and compliant with safety standards.
- Adhere to all OSHA and company safety policies.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Required: Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- No experience needed; training provided.
- Familiarity with shipping software and systems is a plus.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Knowledge of shipping regulations and customs procedures is a plus.
- Physical ability to lift and move packages up to 50 lbs. as needed.
- Comfortable working in a noisy and industrial environment.
