Software Engineer

The Garner Underground, Inc. (GUI) is looking to add an embedded firmware engineer to our design team. GUI specializes in designs focused on HVAC and outdoor airflow measurement, indoor air quality sensing, and demand control ventilation. Our solutions help HVAC system designers meet ASHRAE compliance, while improving the indoor environment. Our products, through our sister companies Ebtron and Greentrol, can be found installed in small commercial spaces, healthcare facilities, clean rooms, to large industrial/commercial complexes and skyscrapers spanning the globe. Our main office is located in Loris, SC, but the software engineer will have the option of being based out of our Loris, SC, Garner, NC, or Charlotte, NC locations.

As a GUI firmware engineer, you will work with a collaborative team under the guidance of a senior engineer to create embedded products that push the industry forward.

Role:

· Code and debug low and high-level system application software under the guidance of a senior engineer

· Help design software to aid in production of a product.

· Design, test, and evaluate new concepts for commercial viability.

· Create clear documentation on code operation.

· Play an active role in the development of new products while working with an engineering team through the product lifecycle.

· Actively bring solutions.

· Optionally help create an embedded Linux distribution and/or applications for the embedded Linux system.

Education:

· BS Degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering or Computer Science

· 3+ years of software or firmware experience.

Qualifications:

· Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical / Computer Engineering / Computer Science with 0-3 years of experience.

· Experience with C, C#

· Experience with databases (SQL)

· Experience with C++, Java, VBA is helpful but not required.

· Experience with the Linux Kernel is helpful but not required.

· Ability to read. and understand reference manuals, datasheets, and relevant technical material.

· Ability to work well on your own and together with a team of cross-functional engineers.

· Strong problem-solving skills.

· Ambitious and willing to learn and take on new challenges.

· Exceptional ability to communicate and convey ideas and solutions.
