SUMMARY:

The Spanish Language Specialist under the direction of the emPower Process Manager, will provide timely utility assistance navigation to eligible Spanish speaking households. Primary duties include: all communication with Spanish speaking households, assistance with application process, and resource referral. This position will also serve as the back up to the various roles within the Processing Team of the emPower program.

As a member of the emPower Team, the Self-Sufficiency Processing Specialist is expected to promote a positive work environment. This includes: professionalism, positive attitude, reliability, adaptability to changes, and willingness to learn.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

● Bilingual; Spanish and English

● Be thoroughly familiar with MPSC MEAP grant and funding and other approved assistance grants, their conditions and eligibility criteria;

● Assist Spanish speaking households in navigation of the utility assistance system;

● Serve as the back up to the Processing Team positions;

● Provide excellent customer service and promote participant self-sufficiency;

● Accurately input data, upload, and track information in the CRM database;

● Provide appropriate solutions to emergency situations including placing holds on participant accounts and contact proper emPower staff for issue resolution;

● Effective and professional communication with participants, vendors, partners, and colleagues;

● Timely completion of all Paycor entries in accordance with TrueNorth policies and procedures;

● Maintain home work environment in accordance to TrueNorth policy and procedures;

● Represent TrueNorth in a professional manner when conducting work;

● Adhere to professional standards as outlined by protocols, rules, and regulations provided by TrueNorth;

● Regular and consistent attendance;

● Attend all staff meetings;

● Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: There are no supervisory responsibilities with this position.

● Familiarity and experience with the Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, etc.), Google, general internet use and possess the capacity to master the Customer Relations Management (CRM) database and other external databases

● Ability to utilize Paycor, a cloud based software, to accurately record hours worked

● Ability to relate to people on a one-on-one basis and as a member of a group

● Ability to work independently and as part of team focused on achieving well defined performance outcomes

● A working knowledge of the barriers and challenges for low-income households

● Ability to exercise independent judgment and demonstrate initiative in analyzing consumer problems and recommending appropriate solutions

● Ability to problem solve, exercise good discretion and judgment when making independent decisions

● Possess and demonstrate the skill to effectively coordinate multiple projects with short deadlines;

● Ability to work with a variety of systems, agencies, databases and individuals while exhibiting excellent communication skills

● Ability to maintain records and prepare verbal and written reports

● Ability to explain program policies and procedures to participants and families

● Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with administrators, employees, participants and families

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

● Customer service experience required

● Excellent basic computer skills and ability to learn the use of the CRM database required

● Experience using the Microsoft Office suite, Google suite, and PDF platforms preferred

● Some college education preferred; knowledge of grants preferred

● Experience working with vulnerable populations preferred

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

● Bilingual in Spanish and English

● Ability to interpret reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals

● Effective and professional oral and written communication skills

● Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from TrueNorth leadership, participants, and the general public

● Prolonged and frequent sitting, standing, walking, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, squatting, lifting, crawling, crouching and stooping

● Moderate to heavy usage of hands in grasping, repetitive hand movement and finger coordination in keeping records and preparing reports using a computer keyboard

● Speech and hearing to communicate effectively in group settings and by telephone to participants, staff and others

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus

The primary office is located at TrueNorth Community Services, 6308 S. Warner Avenue, Fremont, MI 49412. While performing these duties, the employee is expected to work:

● From a home workspace with occasional need to work on-site when required

Onsite work will be in an office/workspace with a moderate noise level for an office setting and participant, child, and staff distractions.

Other work environment issues include:

● This position may need to work outside in cold/wet/snow/ice/heat/humidity/wind or other adverse weather conditions
