Specialty Construction Project Installer

Primary Job Function

As a speciality project installer at AVM Group, your duties depend on the type of project and the materials you work with, but they typically involve reading and following blueprints, specifications, and instructions.

Installers must measure and mark the installation areas and materials, as well as prepare and clean the surfaces and tools.

They must also cut, shape, fit, and join the materials, secure them with nails, screws, glue, caulk, or other fasteners, test and adjust the systems for functionality and safety, clean up any waste or debris, and report and document the progress and issues.

Job Responsibilities

In this role, you will have the following responsibilities:

• Plan, layout, and prepare installations and work space in accordance with plans and specifications. Assume additional responsibilities as directed by corporate executives.
• Work with various hand tools as required for installation project.
• Measure, cut, fit, and install materials as required.
• Maintain quality control and specifications.
• Monitor production requirements and report any shortfalls to project management.
• Monitor material requirements and report to project management.
• Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction.

Required Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications and Experience

This role requires the following skills experience:

• Physical skills such as the ability to lift, carry, bend, climb, and work in different positions and environments are essential, as is hand-eye coordination, manual dexterity, and balance.
• Technical skills are also required; an installer must be able to use different tools, equipment, and techniques to install various materials and systems.
• Basic math, reading, and problem-solving skills are necessary to follow instructions and measurements.
• Communication skills are important for an installer to communicate clearly and courteously with clients, supervisors, and co-workers, as well as being able to listen and understand the needs and expectations of the project.
• Safety skills must be observed; an installer must be aware of and follow the safety rules and regulations of the construction industry while wearing protective gear and using caution when handling hazardous materials or situations.

Additional Role Information

Reports to project superintendent.

Compensation

Starting pay depends on installer experience. The pay range for this position is generally $20-35 an hour. This position also offers health benefits and a retirement pension plan.
