Overview of the Sr. Accountant role
At Little Fish Accounting, the Senior Accountant is at the forefront of financial integrity. They meticulously update and maintain precise financial records, ensuring accurate classification through journal entries and efficient processing of invoices. Moreover, this role is critical in delivering on our promise of a spa-like experience by ensuring the seamless execution of all deliverables for our monthly clients.
Thorough reconciliations enhance data accuracy, and the Senior Accountant prepares complex financial and management reports, providing crucial insights for our monthly accounting clients.
Providing bookkeeping and financial statement analysis for approximately 10 clients, this role enforces the highest standards of financial accuracy and compliance. Active participation in process improvements, unwavering dedication to financial regulations, and a pivotal role in client activity all contribute to Little Fish Accounting's enduring commitment to financial success.
Time Commitment: This is a Full-Time, exempt role. This person is expected to be available and work traditional business hours of 9am - 5pm Eastern Time
Compensation: $55,000 - $60,000 per year (based on experience) + competitive benefits package
Location: Remote
Status: This role is a W2 employee position. You must be legally authorized to work as a W2 Employee in the United States.

- Are proficient in conducting in-depth analysis of financial backend systems to proactively identify and rectify errors, ensuring client deliverables are error-free and accurate upon delivery.

Responsibilities
Accounting Quality Control
- Review and verify the accuracy and completeness of financial transactions recorded, including entries, invoices, and receipts before pushing work to the Account Manager for review.
- Conduct regular reconciliations of accounts, bank statements, and financial data to identify discrepancies or errors and ensure they are corrected.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements, making corrections and adjustments as needed.
- Conduct financial reviews and internal control assessments to ensure financial integrity and minimize risks.
Reconciliations and Financial Reporting
- Perform weekly bookkeeping tasks to keep client informed and records up to date.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements for LFA monthly accounting clients.
- Perform accounting reconciliations, identifying and resolving discrepancies as needed.
- Prepare and promptly post journal entries, ensuring accurate classification and allocation of expenses and revenue.
- Diligently investigate and resolve any discrepancies or issues identified.
- Assist with variance analysis and reporting to help identify cost-saving opportunities.
Administrative Accountant Duties
- Assist the Tax Account Manager as needed with the financial information needed for preparation and submission of tax returns.
- Develop and implement accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Support the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Maintain organized financial files and records for easy retrieval.
Required Skills
- Strong ability to review work and find errors.
- High level of competency in Accounting analysis, research, and strategy.
- Forward-thinking individual, with high-level of attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Self-starter and resourceful, with the ability to take initiative on tasks and work independently to find solutions
Education and Experience
- BA in Accounting, Finance or Similar field preferred
- 2+ years of Accounting experience
- Familiarity with QuickBooks accounting software.
- Proficiency in ClickUp, Google Apps, Slack, and Canopy is a plus.
- Comprehensive understanding of general ledger accounting and account reconciliation.
- Excellent communication skills, with a strong emphasis on client interaction.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- CPA license is preferred but not required.
