About NGP and NGPAF:
New Georgia Project (NGP) is a non-partisan, 501c3 nonprofit organization formed to register the unregistered people of color in the state of Georgia. Our work is based in registering and advocating for Georgians of color (Black, Latinos, Asian-
Americans) while engaging them in the democratic process and participating in collective actions around common issue areas.
Those issue areas include voting rights, quality and affordable health care, economic justice, civil rights and more.
New Georgia Project Action Fund (NGPAF) is NGP’s non-partisan, 501c4 affiliate organization. It was formed to increase the civic participation of underrepresented and underserved communities of color. NGPAF does this by engaging in local and state political campaigns, in support of, or opposition to, ballot measures, referendums, recalls, initiatives and candidacies for local and state offices.
Position Summary:
NGP and NGPAF are vibrant, independent, fast-paced, non-partisan voter registration and civic organization that have seen explosive growth in the last twelve months and are headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. NGP and NGPAF seek a passionate, collaborative, and innovative professional that will join the Organization during an exciting time of transformation.
The Staff Accountant is responsible for processing the financial transactions of NGP/NGPAF. The Staff Accountant will manage accounts receivable and payable, help prepare financial reports, work with staff to track their program specific budgets, provides support to the development team in donation tracking procedures, assist in performing other accounting duties as assigned, which will include daily, monthly, and annual accounting & reporting needs. The incumbent in this position will demonstrate an understanding of the principles of processing simple to complex gifts, leverage their strong leadership skills, analytical skills, and precise decision-making abilities with a proven track record of success in similar roles of progressively greater responsibility. The ideal candidate will have a nonprofit accounting background, excellent communication skills, and proven ability to collaborate between teams. The work requires careful analysis & planning, creativity & passion, initiative and cooperation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Processes receivables and payables, including necessary journal entries.
- Reviews transactions to ensure their validity.
- Manages the ledger to ensure completeness and accuracy.
- Analyzes vendor invoices to ensure they align with contract terms.
- Prepares monthly reporting, including bank reconciliations and budget variances.
- Ensures all policies, processes, and workflows are properly documented.
- Works with CFO to create organizational budgets, monthly reporting and reconciliations, and provides assistance as needed.
- Works with development and operations to process gifts from various sources.
- Assists the program team to create, track and report on their budgets.
- Processes and records all gifts to NGP/NGPAF accurately and facilitates receipts.
- Produce customized and detailed financial reports for internal use or for grant requirement requests and reporting.
- Serves as primary liaison with Development department in gift processing, grant reporting, and data management.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
- 4+ years of professional accounting experience.
- Excellent computer skills, including all Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to maintain a standard of accuracy and efficiency and a significant level of confidentiality due to the sensitive information relative to gift processing.
- High detail orientation with critical degree of accuracy regarding data entry and analysis.
- Budgeting and analysis skills.
- Ability to present financial information to colleagues across teams and managers.
- Significant experience using QuickBooks.
- Possess a high level of organizational skills and be detailed oriented.
- Be a strong multi-tasker, with superior time-management skills and ability to manage competing deadlines or be flexible to changing priorities.
- Experience navigating accounting for related entities.
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience within a progressive organization or political campaign.

Nice-to-Have Qualifications
● Experience working as a member of a remote or geographically dispersed team (we are statewide in Georgia).
Scope and Impact:
New Georgia Project (c3) and New Georgia Project Action Fund (c4) are seeking a Staff Accountant to support the accounting department.

● This role is currently hybrid, 4 days in office and 1 remote, working on US Eastern Time, and will be based in Atlanta ,
GA.

● Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
● May infrequently lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
● Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
● The noise level in the work environment is typically low to moderate
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary is commensurate with experience and within the parameters of the NGP and NGPAF compensation scale. Benefits include four weeks of vacation to start and access to medical, dental and vision insurance plans, and a retirement plan with an employer match.
