The NETA Business Center provides accounting services for public broadcasting organizations and other non-profit institutions across the country. We are true partners for our clients! Working within a team of staff accountants assigned to a specific set of clients, this position provides administrative and clerical support in general accounting functions to the controllers in the NETA Business Center. To ensure alignment with our core working hours in the West Coast, we prefer candidates in the Mountain and Pacific Time Zone regions.

REGULAR DUTIES:

  • Processes Accounts Receivable approved by the Controller, both scheduled and as needed, and creates invoices for mailing or emailing to clients.
  • Processes Accounts Payable approved by Controller.
  • Prepares an aged payable report (also called an “AP selection register”), after the invoices are entered and posted to the document management system (currently doc-link™), for payment selection by the Controller.
  • Enters manual checks from clients as required in the Business Center’s financial software platform for bank reconciliation.
  • Creates weekly check runs and prepares the client’s vendor checks for mailing.
  • Provides monthly statements for all unpaid accounts receivables (30 days and older, or as client requests) to the Controller for the assigned set of clients.
  • Processes cash management and cash receipt entries (daily deposits) based on client-generated spreadsheet, which has been reviewed/approved by Controller.
  • Maintains a current, IRS Form W-9 file for team’s clients’ vendors.
  • Processes IRS Form 1099 at calendar year end and provides them to the Controller for approval.

OCCASIONAL DUTIES:

  • Scans, collates and files client materials when administrative assistants are absent, or if time-sensitive need arises.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED (An equivalent amount of training, education and experience will also be considered.)

  • Associate’s degree required, bachelor’s degree preferred, - preferably in finance or accounting.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in accounting.
  • Operational knowledge, fluency with accounting software and electronic spreadsheets.
  • Familiarity with Sage Intacct platform, Bill.com, and doc-Link™ - is desirable.
  • Excellent accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to work proactively to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to take responsibility and ownership for tasks and to use initiative and creativity to resolve problems.
  • Strong, positive interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to excellent service and satisfaction for Business Center clients.
