Full job description
Palo Duro Canyon State Park is known as the second largest canyon in the United States. Situated on the rim of the canyon, the Visitors Center is a historic building constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps. As an employee of the friends organization of the Park, Partners in Palo Duro Canyon State Park Foundation, the store manager is responsible for managing the retail space (The Gallery) within the Visitors Center, supporting educational opportunities with Park staff, and working to support the educational mission of the Foundation.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage the Visitor Center retail space in a professional manner, maintaining prescribed hours, hiring, training and scheduling staff and volunteers, maintaining inventory
Work with Texas Parks and Wildlife staff to support educational opportunities
Prepare monthly and ad hoc financial and sales reports, with the ability to analyze and interpret the data
Develop inventory and expense projections; set sales and performance goals
Oversee purchase of all merchandise for resale, and maintain existing and develop new long-term vendor relationships
Establish pricing structures
Maintain inventory control system
Ensure attractive merchandising displays
Set, communicate, and ensure compliance with all policies
Provide support to park staff
Provide exceptional customer service and resolve any issues that may arise
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
High school diploma required, bachelor’s degree preferred
Minimum 3-5 years relevant experience including retail staff management, procurement, preparing sales and related reports, developing merchandising displays
Knowledge of Native American arts and experience working with Indigenous peoples is a plus
Computer proficiency: Microsoft Office, ability to troubleshoot point-of-sale systems
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Experience working with a 501c3 organization is a plus
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00am - 5:00pm, on-call as needed
Benefits include paid vacation and sick leave, paid holidays, car allowance for daily commute
Negotiable annual bonus

Salary is commensurate with experience
