The mission of Centinela Youth Services, Inc. (CYS) is to strengthen families and communities and help build successful students and productive adults, leveraging the principles of restorative justice to empower peaceful conflict resolution. We are committed to ending the institutionalized practices in schools and justice systems that are primarily responsible for maintaining the school-to-prison pipeline, and disproportionately impact youth of color. CYS operates a variety of innovative programs that are proven to increase student performance; reduce school dropout rates, gang involvement, youth violence and crime and ultimately help preserve families. CYS is leading innovation that is transforming youth justice in LA and the state, with a commitment to both youth development and serving victims of youth crime, while impacting systemic change to end the school to prison pipeline. CYS is also providing leadership to critical juvenile justice reform in LA County, and as a result is growing rapidly. CYS is seeking an energetic, creative, and dynamic leaders to manage outreach and relations with justice system partners.


This is a nonexempt full-time position, including benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience. All full-time employees are invited to participate in the company’s health benefits package after completing the 60-90-day employment introductory period. Our benefits program includes select health plans and dental plans at 100% cost coverage (for employee only), vision insurance, time off accruals and holiday pay.

Work location

This position will split time between remote work and our Inglewood office. This position involves a lot of meetings in the field at various locations across Los Angeles County.


This is a full-time position. CYS has the following 9/80 work schedule: Monday – Thursday, 8am – 6pm. Friday, 8am – 5pm, with every other Friday off.

Minimum Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college and a minimum of three years’ experience in project coordination or program coordination role, or the equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

- Must be familiar with Restorative Justice and Diversion.

- Familiarity with training: prepping, conducting, and tracking trainings.

General Functions and Responsibilities:


Under the leadership of the CYS, Inc. Training Manager, the Strategic Project Coordinator will support key projects as well as coordinating logistics for trainings and meetings hosted by CYS leadership and transformation teams. This position will enjoy a variety of experiences including the opportunity to contribute across programs while representing, and communicating on behalf of CYS, with external justice and community stakeholders. This critical role will support strategic system transformation in Los Angeles County and other jurisdictions throughout the country that are taking steps towards implementing Restorative Justice Diversion efforts in their communities.

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

· Coordinate a rotating list of 3-6 small and mid-size projects, in addition to routine responsibilities.

· Manage the logistics of specific CYS training and community events, both virtual and in-person, including execution of the scheduling, operational, and administrative tasks.

· Coordination and communication tasks pertaining to quarterly collaborative meetings and bi-annual orientations involving CYS leadership, justice partners, and community stakeholders.

· Distribution, collection, data entry, and analysis of surveys and evaluation results.

· Complete timely and accurate project, progress, and activity reports.

· Accurately capture and synthesize a high degree of content from internal and external planning meetings to produce documentation that conveys the decisions and designs discussed.

· Support the compilation and organization of relevant research, data, and evidence-based practices pertaining to CYS’ common training topics.

· Draft a variety of documentation including project plans, proposals, work instructions, and agendas.

· Copy, edit, and effectively proofread documents, external communications, and training materials.

· Identify, utilize, and support the navigation of various online platforms and tools meant to streamline training experiences for various internal and external CYS stakeholders.

· Coordinate across departments and external partners to effectively execute projects.

· Other reasonable duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities:

Excellent track record in coordinating aspects and/or whole projects through implementation.

· Project coordination experience and use of data/software tools to manage and monitor workflow.

· Excellent time management and prioritization skills.

· Ability to connect well with internal and external stakeholders at varying levels of leadership.

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to adjust content and style to diverse audience requirements.

· Ability to think critically and identify gaps in information and processes.

· Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

· Comfortable with ambiguity and self-direction to bring clarity.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

· Must pass background clearances.

· Must possess reliable transportation.

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

· Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

· Must possess a valid California driver’s license, have use of a motor vehicle and be able to provide evidence of automobile liability insurance.
