Full job description

Description: Provide a nutritious, safe, and healthy meals to students; prepare and serve food items; run POS machine; clean up kitchen.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Food Service experience preferred
  • Valid Motor Vehicle Operator’s license

NOTE: The lists below are not ranked in order of importance:

Essential Functions:

  • Exhibit professional behavior, emotional stability and sound judgment
  • Respond appropriately to crisis situations (i.e. emergencies, employee/parent concerns)
  • Ensure safety of students
  • Pre-portion or dish-up foods as required
  • Setup serving line
  • Stock milk cooler and snack carts
  • Stock trays, cutlery, paper goods etc. as needed
  • Serve foods to students and staff
  • Collect money during meal service; write Café Money Reminders as required
  • Verify that all meals served meet school lunch program requirements
  • Verify unused food quantities; assure all leftovers and properly and safely stored
  • Wash all trays, dishes, pots, pans, utensils, and store properly
  • Clean all equipment and work surfaces after use
  • Assist in checking in orders and putting deliveries away
  • Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy
  • Maintain respect at all times for confidential information
  • Outstanding attendance and punctuality
  • Interact in a positive manner with staff, students and parents
  • Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude, and conversation
  • Complete two weeks of training and ensure all training logs are completed and sent to the Food Service office.
  • Complete required annual Continued Education, Civil Rights training and HACCP training
  • Attend annual trainings as required to meet the USDA Professional Standards

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner
  • Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as

responsible, intelligent human beings

  • Instill in students the belief in, and practice of ethical principles and democratic values
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the head cook and Food Service director

Additional Working Conditions:

  • Occasional exposure to bodily fluids
  • Occasional operation of a vehicle under inclement weather conditions (i.e., being prepared to come to work on all scheduled days)
  • Occasional interaction among unruly children
  • Regular requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, stoop, crouch, climb, and kneel
  • Lifting and carrying of office supplies and materials up to a maximum of fifty pounds
  • Frequent travel
  • Exposure to heat and humidity
  • Repetitive hand motion

Employee shall remain free of any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance use in the workplace throughout his/her employment with the District.
