Full job description
Children’s Dance Theater offers two short summer intensives geared toward the serious dancer. Our target market is dancers with training who may not be interested or able to attend overnight intensives. We primarily serve our current student base though registration is open to the local dance community also. We are seeking highly skilled instructors to provide a challenging class while maintaining an inspirational environment.
ABOUT: Children's Dance Theater offers a unique learning experience for children of all ages. We specialize in combining the creative elements of dance, theater, art, and preschool into one comprehensive program. Our instructors have over 20 years of experience, and are dedicated to helping every student reach their full potential.We offer a variety of classes and activities, so that children can explore their creativity while learning the fundamentals of dance. We strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment, so that every child can feel confident and excited to explore their creativity.
ROLE OVERVIEW: Guest instructor will lead classes in Jazz, Industry movement styles, Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Contemporary, Modern, Hip Hop, Improvisation. The first Intensive dates are July 22nd through July 26th, 2024 during the day time hours. The second intensive dates are August 6th through August 8th, 2024 during the afternoon & evening hours.
CORE RESPONSIBILITY #1 Lead a level appropriate dance class to the industry standard of the assigned dance genre. Classes should be conducted with the appropriate class structure, begin and end on time and be guided to help the students improve their technique and artistry..
CORE RESPONSIBILITY #2 All classes must support CDT’s core value of inclusiveness. Our studio supports every dancer's desire to become a better dancer, regardless if a professional career is desired. Our faculty mentor and guide every student that enters our program to help them achieve best. We believe that confidence, poise, dedication and self-expression are just as important as art itself. Through training and performance opportunities, our students develop into beautiful artists, as well as amazing human beings.
CORE RESPONSIBILITY #3 Children’s Dance Theater celebrates the uniqueness of all of our students. All guest teachers must be respectful of all students' body types, races, religions and gender, sexual orientation and the presence of any sensory, mental, or physical disability. That can mean allowing gender neutral dance attire, protective hairstyles, choosing words with intention that eliminate any subconscious connotations to size, race or other discriminatory comments.
CORE RESPONSIBILITY #4 While we want our students to be technically challenged with their skills, strengths and flexibility. They absolutely must leave the studio inspired each day. We believe in progress not perfection and all guest instructors must be equally motivational to our clients.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Extensive previous dance training at a high level for a minimum of 5 years
- Working knowledge and ability to teach dance to all ages, levels and abilities
- Ability to motivate and coach young students to perform and achieve results
- Excellent interpersonal communication, organization, planning and customer service skills
- Availability to work ALL scheduled classes, rehearsals and performance. Including evenings and weekends (as needed)
- Demonstrate kindness with students, colleagues and parents
- Maintain our positive atmosphere
- Use verbal and written communication skills
- Have professional personal presentation
- Strong organizing and planning experience
- Pay attention to details
- Have outstanding reliability
WHAT WE OFFER (Other than income)
- Up to 6 per intensive openings for guest teachers
- 2 openings include a travel stipend of $1500 each
- Lunch is provided for the July Intensive only

If selected applicants will receive contracts at the time of the job offer and they will have 72 hours to return the contract. If not selected applicants will receive an email notification and will be considered for future opportunities. CDT has limited guest teaching openings.

Pay: $35.00 - $85.00 per hour
