Full job description
Children’s Dance Theater is proud to offer terrific day camps that are sure to entertain and inspire children. Each week has a morning and an afternoon session. Campers may register for either a half day option or enroll in both sessions to have a full day camp option. Each session includes small group classes that incorporate the weeks' theme. There are also fun games and various age-appropriate projects that will keep the mind active! Our camps are a parent's dream come true!
Week 0, June 24th- 28th possible Art camp at the Federal Way Location
Week 1, July 8th-12th : Dance Camp at the Auburn location
Week 2, July 15th-19th: Dance Camp at the Auburn location
Week 3, July 22nd-26th : Art Camp, at the Auburn Location
Week 4, July 29th -August 2nd: Dance Camp at the Auburn location
Week 5, August 5th-9th: Dance Camp at the Auburn location,
Week 6: August 12th-6th: Dance Camp at the Federal Way location
Week 7: August 26th-30th possible Art camp at the Federal Way location
ABOUT: Children's Dance Theater offers a unique learning experience for children of all ages. We specialize in combining the creative elements of dance, theater, art, and preschool into one comprehensive program. Our instructors have over 20 years of experience, and are dedicated to helping every student reach their full potential. We offer a variety of classes and activities, so that children can explore their creativity while learning the fundamentals of dance. We strive to create a supportive and encouraging environment, so that every child can feel confident and excited to explore their creativity.
ROLE OVERVIEW:
Camp counselors are responsible for checking in and out campers each day. They follow the camp lesson plan and ensure that all campers receive a fun and inspiring art or dance experience. They interact with the campers each day, help oversee games, activities, and ensure there are quality friendship opportunities. There are light janitorial duties and counselors do need to communicate with parents on a daily basis.
CORE RESPONSIBILITY #1 Be familiar with the camp's theme and lesson plan. Prepare supplies daily. Teach the lesson as needed, making any adjustments based on campers age and ability.
CORE RESPONSIBILITY #2 Help with supervision as needed to ensure students are safe and interacting with camp appropriateness behaviors
CORE RESPONSIBILITY #3 All instructors must support CDT’s core value of inclusiveness. Our studio supports every actor’s desire to become a better actor, regardless if a professional career is desired. Our faculty mentor and guide every student that enters our program to help them achieve best. We believe that confidence, poise, dedication and self-expression are just as important as art itself. Through training and performance opportunities, our students develop into beautiful artists, as well as amazing human beings.
CORE RESPONSIBILITY #4 Children’s Dance Theater celebrates the uniqueness of all of our students. All guest teachers must be respectful of all students' body types, races, religions and gender, sexual orientation and the presence of any sensory, mental, or physical disability. That can mean allowing gender neutral dance attire, protective hairstyles, choosing words with intention that eliminate any subconscious connotations to size, race or other discriminatory comments.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Previous theater training at a high level for a minimum of 2 years
- Working knowledge and ability to teach actors to all ages, levels and abilities
- Ability to motivate and coach young students to perform and achieve results
- Excellent interpersonal communication, organization, planning and customer service skills
- Availability to work ALL scheduled classes, rehearsals and performance. Including evenings and weekends (as needed)
- Demonstrate kindness with students, colleagues and parents
- Maintain our positive atmosphere
- Use verbal and written communication skills
- Have professional personal presentation
- Strong organizing and planning experience
- Pay attention to details
- Have outstanding reliability

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18.00 - $23.00 per hour
Expected hours: 15 – 40 per week
