Objective Summary
MISS DIG 811 seeks a talented Damage Prevention and Excavation Safety professional to provide supervisory leadership to the Damage Prevention Liaison’s assigned to regions within the State of Michigan. This role will provide support, resources, and training to our stakeholders. This is a hybrid position with an expectation of significant travel within the state to support excavators, and facility owners. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in utility damage prevention, excavation safety, or 811 processes. This role will be crucial in enhancing the center’s educational initiatives, safety, and reducing underground utility damage.
Role Responsibilities
o Educating and training stakeholders on the use of 811 by making presentations to small and large audiences, both virtually and in-person.
o Building positive, impactful relationships with excavators, locators, utilityowners/operators, public safety agencies, and government officials.
o Routinely visit job sites to evaluate and obtain feedback on MISS DIG 811’s systems andprocesses.
o Provide proactive outreach to members assigned to the district, obtaining updatedcontact information on a routine basis.
o Participating in trade shows, conferences, community festivals, safety meetings, andother relevant events to promote MISS DIG 811.
o Collaborate with stakeholders to create regional damage prevention associations.
o Drive results through metrics and damage data.
o Ability to travel up to 75%.
o All other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Required Skillsets
o Familiarity with Public Act 174 of 2013.
o The ability to engage and persuade through effective communication and leadership.
o Comfortable speaking to large and diverse audiences.
o Alignment with core values of Trust, Safety, Service, Collaboration, and a Commitment to Excellence.
o Associate’s degree or equivalent work experience.
o Experience in one or more of the following fields is a plus: utilities, locating, excavation, marketing, or public relations.
o A clean driving record demonstrating the candidate’s responsibility in operating a motor
vehicle.
o Strong analytical and technological skills in programs associated with damage prevention and reporting, including but not limited to; Microsoft Office 365, Ticket Management
Systems, and Mobile Applications.
o Excellent problem-solving skills, communication skills (verbal and written), and strong attention to detail.
o The ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time and to safely traverse construction sites or other out-of-office locations for events, meetings, and presentations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $80,000.00 per year
