SUSD/LUSD After-School Group Leader

POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the supervision of the Program Coordinators and District Program Facilitator, the Group Leader will provide direction for the after-school program and classroom, as well as implement program curriculum and activities. Individual will provide a quality experience to children that focus on the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Must be at least 18 years of age

2. Have a High School Diploma/GED

3. Pass the Paraprofessional Examination upon hire or have a minimum of 48 college units

4. Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred but not required as trainings will be provided.

5. A passion to work with children and make a difference in the community.

6. Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.

7. Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

8. Fingerprint clearance, Mandated Reporter Training, and TB Test must be obtained at time of hire and maintained while employed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Implements curriculum within the established guidelines.
2. Designs and implements weekly schedules and daily lesson plans.
3. Supervises children, classroom, and all activities.
4. Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
5. Maintains program site and equipment.
6. Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
