Swim Instructor

Do you have a passion for Swimming and living a healthy way of life? We are looking for a passionate Part-Time Swim Instructor who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and will help members of all ages improve their swimming knowledge/abilities.

Schedule:

The schedule is somewhat flexible, with availability required for at least two days between Monday and Thursday, from 4:00 PM to 7:30 PM. A minimum commitment of 4 hours per week is required. This position includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities

• Having fun teaching a valuable life skill!
• Evaluating students’ swimming ability to determine the correct swim level
• Enforcing PEAK policy and maintaining a clean and safe work environment

Duties & Responsibilities

• Instructs swimming lessons and Aquatics classes
• Creates an educational, safe and inviting experience for all participants
• Initiates, develops and maintains positive relationships with participants
• Quickly and efficiently responds to member questions, comments, and
• concerns
• Provides a safe, clean and organized pool area
• Maintains order and safety in swimming areas and assists in enforcing
• club and pool policies
• Immediately reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors or abuse relating to youth
• Exhibit patience with children and adults and maintain a professional appearance at all times.

Education & Experience

• Must be 16 years of age or older.
• Swim lesson instruction and/or coaching experience preferred
• One-year customer service preferred

Licenses / Certifications / Registrations

• WSI (or equivalent) Certification Preferred

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Other Characteristics

• Ability to teach the major strokes of Freestyle, Backstroke, Breaststroke and Butterfly
• Excellent customer service skills, energetic, enthusiastic, and motivational
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to build relationship with members of all ages
• Comfortable working with all age groups, including children
• Ability to handle and resolve conflicts in a professional, tactful manner
• Ability to tolerate loud noises
• Firmly but tactfully enforce Club policies and procedures
• Ability to multi-task and learn quickly
• Ability to acknowledge difficult situations and respond accordingly
• Self-starter, reliable, responsible and dedicated
• Ability to make decisions quickly and easily

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Continual standing and walking during shift
• Continual reaching with hands/fingers/arms during shift
• Repetitive motion daily
• Occasional climbing, balancing, kneeling and crouching during shift
• Must be able to occasionally lift over 35 pounds
• Will occasionally encounter toxic chemicals, such as chlorine.

Pay: $13.00 - $14.00 per hour
