Job Summary:

As a Network & System Engineer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the partner organization's infrastructure. You will work closely with the NOC team, network engineers, systems engineers, and cybersecurity experts to ensure the reliability, security, and performance of client networks. Your responsibilities will include assisting with design, configuring devices, monitoring performance, and troubleshooting issues. Systems responsibilities will include technical support and management of server systems and various appliances and applications.

Forward Edge installs and supports a wide range of technologies on both a single-project and long-term basis. Our solution stack is made up of top-tier manufacturers and offerings that fit the needs of the K-12 environment. Forward Edge solutions include firewalls, switches, routers, wireless access points, servers, virtualization, access control, video surveillance, and storage.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configuration: Assist in installing, configuring, testing, and maintaining equipment.
  • Monitoring: Monitor performance and security, identifying and addressing issues promptly. Identify areas for network optimization and propose improvements to enhance network performance and efficiency.
  • Troubleshooting: Troubleshoot problems and assist in resolving connectivity and performance issues.
  • Security: Assist in implementing and maintaining network security measures, including firewalls, cybersecurity software, intrusion detection systems, and access control lists.
  • Design: Collaborate with teammates to design and implement solutions that meet the organization's requirements.
  • Patch and Update Management: Maintain supported, current versions of various deployed software, including operating systems, business applications, and specialty software. Apply firmware updates and patches to network devices to ensure security and performance.
  • Vendor Coordination: Communicate with network hardware and software vendors to understand product innovation, obtain training to achieve product mastery, support and resolve technical issues.
  • User Support: Provide technical support and exceptional customer service to end-users for system and network-related issues.
  • Documentation: Maintain clear and comprehensive documentation of configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Deployment and Maintenance: Assist in implementing new systems or configurations in the systems environment and maintaining hardware and software inventories.
  • Sales & Reporting: As a trusted advisor and solution specialist, assist in situational and annual reporting activities on historical and forward-looking aspects of customer environments. Provide support for the sales team to position solutions for long-term success.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience in a similar role.
  • Knowledge of networking fundamentals, including TCP/IP, subnetting, VLANs, and routing protocols.
  • Familiarity with network hardware and software (routers, switches, firewalls, wireless, etc.).
  • Knowledge of Server hardware and software, including virtualization and administration.
  • Basic understanding of network security concepts.
  • Autonomy in problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Highly self-motivated, accountable for time management, ability to organize and prioritize tasks, and manage deadlines and service queues.
  • Ability to work under the guidance of senior teammates and learn quickly.
  • Capability and experience to motivate other high-performing team members and cross-departmental peers for the greater good of the organization.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Microsoft Certified Professional
  • Experience with network monitoring tools
  • Knowledge of virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, etc).
  • Understanding of cloud networking concepts (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud).
  • Knowledge of fundamental Microsoft infrastructure (Active Directory, Group Policy, Print queues, SCCM)
  • Linux server management experience
  • Camera or network video experience
  • Helpdesk or Network Operations Center experience

Supplemental:

  • Full-time, Salary
  • Salary $75,000 and up, depending on relevant experience
  • Bonus Pay Opportunities
  • 40-50 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • On-call for system outages, including rotating on call weekends
  • Work location: Our Headquarters is located in Sharonville, Ohio.
  • In-person work within scheduled working hours.
  • Reliable commute and travel to customer locations are required.
  • In-state travel and alternate hours required.
  • Out-of-state travel to customers or conferences occasionally.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
