Summary:

A Tax Strategist helps individuals and businesses reduce tax liabilities and optimize tax savings through proactive planning while ensuring compliance with tax laws.

Salary + Benefits:

  • $70,000 to $160,000 base compensation (DOE), plus bonus

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (Masters in Taxation a plus)
  • 3+ years experience with income tax. Real estate tax and multi-state tax returns a plus
  • 2+ years of experience reviewing tax returns (Individuals, Partnerships, and S-Corporations)
  • Growth and promotion history at previous jobs
  • CPA or EA certification a plus
  • QuickBooks, Lacerte, Microsoft Office, and CCH Research experience a plus

Responsibilities:

  • Review and analyze tax returns for high net-worth individuals, real estate investors, and closely held businesses (i.e., corporate, partnership, and LLC)
  • Interpret financial data and entity structures to identify tax areas and planning opportunities and recommend strategic adjustments.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest tax legislation, ensuring accurate and compliant tax planning strategies.
  • Research tax issues and draft technical correspondence as it relates to tax planning
  • Analyze legislative proposals for risks and opportunities and lead initiatives to update firm planning templates and processes accordingly.
  • Develop and deliver tax-saving strategies for real estate investors and closely held businesses.
  • Lead regular strategy meetings, present planning deliverables, and maintain year-round communication to ensure continuity of planning execution.
  • Contribute to internal training and mentor junior strategists or assistants in tax technical concepts and client engagement best practices.
  • Develop and maintain client relationships throughout the year.
