Position Summary

ARC is looking for an experienced Life Coach (case manager) to work with Transitional Age Youth (TAY) in the Los Angeles area. This position’s focus will be providing direct case management services to individuals being released from incarceration. The Life Coach’s role is to take full responsibility for the needs of these individuals – that includes basic tasks such as obtaining identification, teaching life skills, referrals to therapy, mentorship, career readiness participation and training. The ideal candidate for this position has both lived experience and demonstrated experience with youth aged 18-25. This position requires full and thorough knowledge of the specific and unique needs of this population.

Essential Job Functions

• Provide individualized case management, advocacy, and referral services to transitional age youth.
• Incorporate an emphasis on skills development, including experiential learning, healthy living, creative arts, and public service.
• Implement and maintain a non-punitive environment that motivates youths to engage in the process of individual change.
• Support individuals in developing foundational independent living skills, securing full time employment, encouraging higher education and teaching financial literacy.
• Maintain electronic/file documentation in accordance with all regulatory and internal policies while remaining HIPAA compliant.
• Create and maintain Individualized Service Plans (ISP’s) for caseload.
• Engage clients in individual case management sessions regularly to discuss progress/regression of service plan goals.
• Identify ongoing needs and provide linkages to ancillary resources as needed.
• Provide referrals for group and/or individual mental health counseling; educational, vocational, and/or employment preparation and placement services; and a variety of social and recreational activities.
• Ensure all newly released members participate in a comprehensive needs assessment within 24 hours of program entry.
• Facilitate groups, including cooking, basic computer skills, employment preparation, budgeting skills, activities of daily living and others which are relevant to the development of independent living skills.
• Participate in continuing education trainings, community-based provider meetings, and ARC staff trainings as assigned.
• Develop resources through outreach and collaboration with community providers.
• Collaborate with other staff members to ensure adherence to safety and security measures.
• Transport members to appointments, events, and activities as needed.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by supervisory team.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications:

• A minimum of 3 years working with Transitional Age Youth (TAY), with proven ability to assess and fully understand the unique needs of this special population. Experience working with formerly incarcerated adults will not satisfy this qualification.
• High School Diploma (or equivalent) and specific course training on TAY.
• Intermediate Computer Literacy, with full understanding of Microsoft applications.

The Life Coach should also have the following experience and attributes:

• Flexible and self-starter; ability to multitask while also being highly detail oriented.
• Familiarity implementing a youth development curriculum.
• Experience having worked with emerging adults.
• Familiarity with relational and rewards-based approaches preferred.
• The ability to build and maintain meaningful relationships with TAY.
• Experience with trauma informed care.
• Excellent people skills, with experience in collaborating in a multidisciplinary, diverse and dynamic team environment.
• Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to ARC’s mission.
• Strong and effective problem-solving skills.

Salary/Benefits

• Pay rate $24-$26/hr. doe.

Pay: $24.00 - $26.00 per hour
