ITINERANT and/or EARLY INTERVENTION TEACHER OF THE DEAF (FULL OR PART TIME)

Reports to: Coordinator of Itinerant Services

Description: Full-time or Part-time 10-month, exempt

Duties and Performance Responsibilities:

  • Exhibit competency in developing listening, language and speech skills.
  • Exhibit ability to learn and apply AV techniques.
  • Exhibit competency in use and maintenance of auditory equipment, including student personal hearing aids and processors and classroom amplification. Insure proper student use and care of personal and school amplification.
  • Be familiar with and implement the State Core Curriculum Standards and CASLLS.
  • Employ instructional methods and materials and prepare lesson plans that meet IEP goals and objectives.
  • Evaluate student progress and achievement on a regular basis
  • Maintain appropriate records and reports (attendance, progress reports)
  • Conduct staff and student in-services.
  • Conduct acoustic evaluations under advisement and guidance of Educational Audiologist.
  • Act as a liaison between school staff, outside professionals and parents.
  • Foster and encourage positive and appropriate behavior and social relationships.
  • Be punctual and regular in attending sessions, department meetings, staff development meetings, conferences and other school related duties.
  • Perform all required functions in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Cooperate effectively and professionally in all matters maintaining student confidentiality.
  • Exhibit appropriate grooming and dress.
  • Serve on school committees.
  • Adhere to all policies and procedures as stated in the Employee Handbook Guidelines.
  • Perform other instructional and supervisory duties as assigned.
  • Accumulate 20 hours Professional Development annually prorated to any part time equivalency.
