Job Description
TITLE: Regional Safe School Teacher

DEPARTMENT: Regional Office of Education #8

DESCRIPTION: Classroom teacher for Regional Safe School Program. Develop individualized learning program for up to 25 students in grades 6-12 using a variety of curriculum resources including technology-based, textbooks, and project-based learning.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: State of Illinois License endorsed for secondary teaching (or ability to obtain)

  • Ability to use technology effectively
  • Knowledge and experience with behavior modification techniques, social emotional learning, and temperament and training to motivate at-risk youth

REPORTS TO: RAP Program Coordinator

WORK SCHEDULE: 1.0 FTE; 185 day position; 180 school calendar, 5 non-school calendar days, 8 hours daily

COMPENSATION: Regionally competitive pay salary based on experience, TRS paid, and medical/dental, vision, and life benefits available.

DUTIES:

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to assess individual needs, establish realistic and appropriate goals and objectives, and design and implement a program for each student
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing sufficient to express ideas, thoughts, lesson material and instructions clearly to students, community and staff
  • Ability to plan and conduct a system of continuous evaluation of each student progress
  • Ability to maintain suitable learning environment including appropriate planning and organization of classroom
  • Ability to keep accurate class records and submit reports in a timely manner
  • Ability to direct and evaluate paraprofessionals and volunteers
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple activities

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $36,400.00 per year
